The Canton Vento 31 is a 2-way bookshelf speaker from the Vento series 2026 that squeezes a frequency response down to 27 Hz out of a compact cabinet.
This version wears the series' satin white finish: no glaring lacquer, but a calm surface that recedes into bright rooms. Technically everything stays at series standard: a 25 mm Black Ceramic tweeter behind the Transmission Front Plate, and below it a 174 mm mid-woofer with an ATB cone. The bass-reflex port sits at the rear, built in Weilrod, Hesse.
Why the Canton Vento 31?
Because not every room tolerates a floorstander, yet nobody wants to give up substance. The 31 is the larger of the series' two compact models, and thus the point where a bookshelf speaker stops sounding like a compromise. In white it almost disappears against a bright wall — acoustically, decidedly not. Honestly: most living rooms benefit more from two well-placed compacts than from two poorly placed towers.
What you hear
An open, finely drawn midrange and a bass that holds its contour instead of wobbling. The 174 mm driver has enough cone area to give drums and double bass power without smearing the room. In the highs the reproduction stays silky and detailed. A tip from practice: 20 to 40 cm of wall clearance and a slight toe-in toward the listening seat — no more effort is needed.
Who is the Canton Vento 31 for?
Plain talk: ideal for small to medium-sized living rooms, for discerning second systems, and for anyone who cares as much about looks as about sound. It's less suited to large, open floor plans and to home cinema that needs to deliver deep bass without a subwoofer. Push it flush against the wall or wedge it between books, and you take away exactly what you bought it for.
Our verdict
A bookshelf speaker that almost undersells the term: cleanly built, living-room-friendly, and equipped with the tweeter technology of the larger models. In satin white it's the most inconspicuous variant of the series, and at the same time the one that collects fingerprints least often. HD Zürisee has sold hi-fi in Wädenswil since 1997, so we're happy to tell you in advance whether your room calls for the 31, the smaller 21, or a floorstander.

Frequently asked questions
Does the Vento 31 fit on a shelf too?
Yes, it's built for that — at 22 cm wide and 35 cm deep it fits most sideboards. Because the bass-reflex port faces the rear, some air should remain behind the cabinet. Flush against the rear wall, the bass turns thick and imprecise.
What amplifier suits the Canton Vento 31?
With 84.1 dB efficiency and a nominal impedance of 4 to 8 ohms, it's not effortless, but it's no special case either. A solid stereo integrated amplifier with around 50 to 100 watts at 4 ohms drives it confidently. We're happy to match the combination to your room.
How much wall clearance does the Vento 31 need?
As a rule of thumb, 20 to 40 cm from the rear wall. Less clearance emphasizes the upper bass and makes the reproduction sluggish; more clearance brings openness and a more stable soundstage. A slight toe-in toward the listening seat sharpens imaging further. A stand makes fine-tuning much easier.
Is the Vento 31 also suited for home cinema?
Yes, it works as a front or surround pair in a Vento set and matches tonally with the series' center, subwoofer, and Atmos modules. For a film soundtrack's deep effects, you should plan for an active subwoofer — that relieves the compacts and delivers noticeably more foundation.
Why buy the Canton Vento 31 in white at HD Zürisee?
Because we don't just hand over the box — we think through the combination: amplifier, stand, cable, placement. HD Zürisee is an authorized dealer, our technician Mauri handles installation and service, and delivery with setup at your home is part of our offer.
Goes well with
On a speaker stand, the Vento 31 plays most freely. Find the drive under amplifiers, the necessary cable right next to it, and for movie nights a subwoofer rounds out the foundation. Further bookshelf speakers for comparison can be found here.
