The Canton InWall 845 LCR is a passive in-wall speaker in a horizontal format, which Canton explicitly designs for use as a left, right or centre channel.

Two 135 mm aluminium woofers flank a pivoting 25 mm aluminium tweeter. This arrangement keeps the sound image anchored to the centre even when the speaker sits horizontally in the wall below or above a display.

Why the InWall 845 LCR?

Because in home cinema, the centre channel usually fails on space, not budget. There's no room under the TV, and as soon as something sits on furniture, the soundbar debate starts – here it simply disappears into the wall. With 140 watts of music power handling and 89 dB sensitivity, it still has enough reserve for medium to large rooms, and the pivoting tweeter aims at the seating row instead of the ceiling.

What you hear

Above all, intelligible dialogue. That's precisely a centre channel's core job, and the 845 LCR handles it cleanly: voices stay stable and centred without thinning out as things get louder. The two aluminium drivers reach down to 42 Hz and give effects some substance, while the top end stays open up to 40 kHz.

Who is the InWall 845 LCR suited to?

For home cinema and stereo projects where the entire front should stay invisible – one unit as a centre channel, three as a complete LCR front. Straight talk: it's sold as a single unit, so you need to work out for yourself how many channels you need. And if you simply want stereo out of the wall, the vertical-format InWall 845 as a pair is the more straightforward solution.

Our verdict

The most unobtrusive route to a proper centre channel. Handles level well, can be aimed, integrates cleanly – and is flat enough that the wall doesn't turn into a construction project. Honestly: an LCR setup stands or falls with the planning, not the speaker. That's why, at HD Zürisee in Wädenswil, we first settle installation heights, channel count and cable routing – only then does the sawing start.

Frequently asked questions

How big is the cutout for the InWall 845 LCR?

The cutout measures 362 × 152 mm, the installation depth 68 mm, and the maximum wall thickness 40 mm. The visible outer dimensions are 400 × 190 mm. Because the cutout can run horizontally across two stud bays, it's worth having Mauri measure the location in advance.

Is the 845 LCR a single speaker or a pair?

It's sold individually as a single unit. You need one for an invisible centre channel, three for a complete LCR front. If you simply want classic stereo out of the wall, the vertical-format InWall 845 as a pair is the more straightforward solution. We'll plan either variant with you.

Can the 845 LCR go behind a screen or a projector canvas?

It's ideally placed below or above a display, since the horizontal format is flat. It doesn't belong directly behind a normal projector canvas – that requires acoustically transparent fabric. We'll work out with you which arrangement in your room brings together screen height and dialogue anchoring.

Does the InWall 845 LCR need a back box?

Not strictly necessary; it plays as a Free Air system into the wall volume. A back box does bring quiet to the neighbouring room and a more defined volume, though, which becomes audible especially with a centre channel. For solid walls, the optional ER 4 LCR mounting frame is available. It's not built for bathrooms, saunas or outdoor use.

Why buy the Canton InWall 845 LCR at HD Zürisee?

Because an LCR setup out of the wall needs planning: channel count, installation height, level and calibration all interlock. Our team in Wädenswil works this out with you, supplies the matching home cinema electronics, and Mauri installs it on site. Call us or write to us on WhatsApp.

Goes well with

You'll find the surround partners among the home cinema speakers, the low end at the subwoofer, and the electronics under amplifiers. More invisible models can be found among the in-wall speakers and wall speakers, with shelf alternatives among the centre speakers.
