The Canton GLE 100 S2 is the largest 3-way floorstanding speaker in the GLE series – the flagship for anyone who wants plenty of cone area, depth and headroom at a fair price.

Two 220 mm ATB woofers, a dedicated 174 mm midrange driver with its own enclosure volume, and the 25 mm AB tweeter with Transmission Front Plate – the tweeter technology from Canton's higher series – form a commanding three-way system. 20–40,000 Hz, 115 cm tall, supplied as a pair.

Why the Canton GLE 100 S2?

Because within the GLE series it's the speaker for the grand gesture. The two 220 mm ATB woofers move plenty of air – deeper, punchier and more commanding than their smaller siblings – while the dedicated midrange driver, in its own enclosure volume, keeps vocals cleanly separated. The tweeter with Transmission Front Plate and waveguide draws fine detail and disperses widely. With 380 W music power handling, 90.5 dB sensitivity and easy-going 4–8 ohms, it still stays easy to live with: you don't need a monster amplifier to make it happy – though it happily takes more if you have it.

What you get

  • 3-way bass reflex with rear-firing port (backfire)
  • 2× 220 mm ATB woofers for deep, punchy bass
  • 1× 174 mm ATB midrange driver in its own enclosure volume
  • 25 mm AB tweeter with waveguide and Transmission Front Plate
  • 20–40,000 Hz, 90.5 dB sensitivity
  • Nominal/music power handling 200 / 380 W, impedance 4–8 Ω
  • 115 cm standing height, oval magnetic fabric cover
  • supplied as a pair

Who is the Canton GLE 100 S2 suited to?

Straight talk: the GLE 100 S2 wants space and some distance from the wall – in a 12 m² room it looks oversized and overwhelms the room rather than filling it. Its territory is medium to large living rooms and home cinemas from around 25 m² upward, where it can put its cone area to work. If you need something more compact, the GLE 90 or 80 is the more balanced choice. But if you're after front speakers with real foundation for cinema or large-area sound, this gives you a lot of speaker for the money.

Our verdict

The GLE 100 S2 is the GLE for anyone who doesn't want to hold back: large cone area, honest depth, reference tweeter technology in the entry segment. The trade press confirms it too – fairaudio put it under the microscope in its 04/2026 test. At HD Zürisee in Wädenswil, we'll clarify with you upfront whether your room can carry the 100 or whether the 90 is the smarter choice – and set up amplifier, placement and wall distance to match.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Canton GLE 100 S2 supplied as a pair?

Yes, the listed price is for two floorstanding speakers – a complete stereo pair. You get both cabinets with an oval magnetic fabric cover and instruction manual. So you immediately have a complete pair of fronts for stereo or home cinema, without having to order twice.

What room size suits the GLE 100 S2?

Ideally from about 25 m² upward. As the largest GLE model with two 220 mm woofers, it needs some room and wall clearance to play cleanly; in very small rooms it quickly looks oversized. There, the GLE 90 or 80 is the more balanced choice.

Does the GLE 100 S2 need a particularly powerful amplifier?

No. With 90.5 dB sensitivity and 4–8 ohms, it's easy to drive; a solid stereo or AV amplifier is enough. It puts extra power to good use for dynamics and level, but it's not essential. We'll work out the right match with you.

Is the GLE 100 S2 suitable as a home cinema front?

Yes, that's exactly what it's built for. Combined with the GLE 50 S2 as a centre, the GLE 30 S2 as surrounds and a Power Sub 12 S2, you get a powerful multichannel system. With the Canton Smart Amp 5.1, this can even become a home cinema without a classic AV receiver.

Why buy the Canton GLE 100 S2 at HD Zürisee?

Because a large cabinet disappears in the wrong room and shines in the right one – and that's exactly what we work out with you beforehand. We know the GLE series from everyday practice, give you honest advice on room size, placement and amplifier, deliver your pair, and stay by your side with our own technician.
