The Canton Atelier InWall 9 is a slim 3-way in-wall speaker for flush installation into drywall and prepared solid walls.
The silk-matte black finish is the right one when the wall is dark anyway, or the speaker sits in a panel. What stays visible is a frameless fabric cover; the rest sits behind the wall plane at 8.2 cm installation depth.
Why the Atelier InWall 9?
Because here Canton bets on principle rather than width: a 128 mm aluminium-titanium woofer/midrange driver, two passive radiators and a 25 mm aluminium tweeter add up to a genuine 3-way system. Hence 35 Hz low-end extension and 120 watts nominal power handling from a panel only 24.5 cm wide.
What you hear
Music that stands in the room instead of pressing out of the wall. The bass is dry rather than bloated, the mids open, the treble refined. And because two of them span a surprisingly precise stereo centre, you'll miss floorstanding speakers less than you'd think.
Who is the Atelier InWall 9 suited for?
For planned wall integrations in living, work and secondary rooms. Honestly: a cutout of 20.5 × 91 cm remains a structural decision – if you want to stay flexible, you're better off with bookshelf speakers. Canton doesn't state approval for the Atelier InWall series in moisture rooms or outdoors; we plan different models for that.
Our verdict
The most sensible entry into invisible hi-fi, without "invisible" becoming an excuse for thin sound. Hand on heart: in most living rooms, the 9 is the right choice, not the bigger sibling.

Frequently asked questions
How deep does the wall need to be for the Atelier InWall 9?
You need 8.2 cm of usable installation depth plus a little room for cables and terminals, along with a cutout of 20.5 × 91 cm. A standard drywall wall meets that. In solid walls, we plan in a niche or a false wall together – before the first cut.
Can I use the InWall 9 as a rear or effect speaker?
Yes. In a permanently built-in surround system it works as a front, rear or side channel, because its voicing and efficiency match the other Atelier InWall models. How many channels your room can sensibly carry, we discuss before you order.
What amplifier power suits the InWall 9?
It runs passively at 4 to 8 ohms and handles 120 watts nominal, 180 watts music power. A solid integrated amplifier or AV receiver with some headroom is entirely sufficient. We tell you what power your room actually needs, without an unnecessary markup.
Do I get the InWall 9 singly or only as a pair?
Singly. The sales unit is one piece, just as Canton lists the Atelier InWall 9. For stereo you order two, for surround correspondingly more. We put the list together for you so nothing's missing on installation day.
Why buy the Canton Atelier InWall 9 from HD Zürisee?
Because we tell you beforehand what will work, and we're there afterwards for the installation. The team at HD Zürisee in Wädenswil plans position, wiring and amplifier with you – Mauri, our technician, handles the installation on site. Just get in touch.
