The AVM Phono-Modul is a retrofit module for the modular AVM Ovation PA preamp that lets you connect MM and MC cartridges directly to the PA 8.3.
Unlike with the dedicated phono preamp PH 6.3/8.3, here the phono stage moves directly into the preamp itself – handy for anyone who only runs one turntable and doesn't want a separate, additional phono box in the rack. A switchable subsonic filter dampens inaudible low-frequency rumble, caused for example by slightly warped records or footfall, before it needlessly loads the power amplifier. If you want to run several cartridges in parallel, or a dedicated, more elaborate phono preamp, you're better served by the PH 6.3/8.3 with its own module.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this module worth it, or should I go straight for the separate PH preamp?
For one turntable and one cartridge, the phono module in the PA 8.3 is completely sufficient. If you switch between several cartridges or want the sonic maximum, you're better off with the standalone PH 6.3/8.3 and its own module – we're happy to show you both paths.
What exactly does the subsonic filter do?
It filters out very low, inaudible frequencies that arise for example from slightly warped records or vibrations, and that would otherwise create unnecessary excursion in the power amplifier. You don't hear it in everyday use – it works more in the background, protecting your system.
Why buy it from HD Zürisee?
We listen through it together with you to check whether the module suits your cartridge, and set the input parameters on the spot if needed.
