AVM PH MC XLR Phono-Modul for Ovation PH

The AVM PH MC XLR is a retrofit module for the modular AVM Ovation PH preamp that connects moving-coil cartridges in balanced form via XLR to your downstream preamp or power amplifier.

Same module principle as with all Ovation phono cards: you fit the PH 6.3 or PH 8.3 with exactly the inputs your cartridge setup needs, instead of buying a fixed design that only half fits. The XLR variant is especially worthwhile if the following preamp or power amplifier also runs balanced – shorter signal paths, less interference on long cable runs. For unbalanced chains, the same module is available with RCA outputs.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is XLR worth it for me compared to the RCA variant?
Especially if your preamp or power amplifier also has balanced XLR inputs and/or the cable runs are longer. For short, unbalanced chains, the RCA variant is usually completely sufficient – we advise you based on your specific setup.

Does the PH recognise the module automatically?
Yes, according to the AVM manual the preamp adds a newly plugged-in card to the menu on its own, without you having to register it manually. We're still happy to carry out the installation for you at HD Zürisee on request.
