The AVM MA 30.3 MK2 is a mono power amplifier from the AVM30 series that drives exactly one channel per chassis with 300 watts at 4 ohms.
In Cellini Chrom, the compact power block becomes a showpiece for the rack – and since mono means one power amp per speaker, AVM ships the MA 30.3 MK2 as a pair. Two chrome-plated fronts, two separate power supplies, together forming a complete stereo power amp.
Why the MA 30.3 MK2?
The mono design consistently separates the channels: its own chassis, its own power supply, its own amplification for each side. A MOS-FET output stage running in Class A/AB operates on a 550 VA toroidal transformer with over 40,000 µF of filter capacitance and delivers 300 watts at 4 ohms, 180 watts at 8 ohms. The MK2 is a genuine update here: the first MA 30.3 series managed 232 watts at 4 ohms at 10.1 kilograms, the MK2 reaches 300 watts at 12 kilograms. A damping factor of over 500 keeps even demanding speakers firmly under control. Built by hand at the AVM factory in Malsch – the chrome front here isn't a sticker, but genuine surface finishing.
What you get
Two monoblocks that you connect to your preamp balanced via XLR or via RCA; both inputs can be used interchangeably and are gold-plated. The doubled, internally paralleled speaker terminals allow bi-wiring. The AIR function (AVM Intelligent Remote) switches both power amps on and off automatically with the preamp, with no extra trigger cable; a trigger input is available regardless. The closest match in looks and control logic are the streaming preamplifiers AVM PAS 30.3 and AVM MP 30.3 – technically, any quality preamp with an XLR or RCA output will do. The colour changes nothing about the technology or connections.
Who is the MA 30.3 MK2 for – and who isn't it for?
For anyone who wants a serious pre-/power amp chain and values the finest possible finish. Plain talk: the MA 30.3 MK2 is a pure power amplifier – no volume control, no sources, and without a preamp in front of it, it stays silent. It's mono, one channel per chassis; the doubled terminals are for bi-wiring, not bi-amping. The Cellini chrome front is the premium option and changes nothing about the sound – if you'd rather put the budget into speakers, choose black or silver. If you want everything in one chassis, look at an integrated amplifier like the AVM AS 30.3.
Our verdict
Genuine mono separation, 300 watts at 4 ohms per channel, a high damping factor – and in Cellini Chrom, a power amp you no longer hide behind closed doors. Hand-built in Germany, compact enough for a standard rack. Frequently asked questions
Do I get one or two MA 30.3 MK2?
Two. AVM ships the MA 30.3 MK2 as a pair – two mono power amps and two power cords, so one block per speaker channel. That means a complete stereo power amp sits in the rack, and there's nothing you need to order again. For bi-amping or multichannel, we're happy to plan the quantity with you.
What's the difference between Cellini Chrom and black or silver?
Technically nothing. Cellini Chrom is the chrome-plated front variant at a surcharge, and it's purely a matter of looks. Power, connections, power supply and sound are identical. It's the version for anyone who also cares about how their rack looks.
What does the MK2 offer over the first MA 30.3?
Significantly more power. The first series delivered 232 watts at 4 ohms and weighed 10.1 kilograms per block; the MK2 reaches 300 watts and 12 kilograms. Chassis dimensions, connections and control stay unchanged – what's grown is the power supply reserve and output power.
How much power does the MA 30.3 MK2 deliver?
300 watts at 4 ohms and 180 watts at 8 ohms per channel, backed by a 550 VA toroidal transformer and a MOS-FET output stage. The damping factor of over 500 ensures the speaker follows the amplifier rather than the other way round – from quiet room levels right up to peak load.
Does the power amp switch on automatically?
Yes. The AIR function (AVM Intelligent Remote) switches both monoblocks on and off together with your preamp, with no extra trigger cable needed. If you'd rather wire it the classic way, there's also a trigger input on the back for +2 to +24 volts. Day to day, that means you're only operating one device.
