Couldn't load pickup availability
The Atoll SDA200 Signature is a streaming integrated amplifier that combines a network player, D/A converter and a 2×120-watt power stage in one chassis.
One unit, one power cable, one pair of speaker cables – and the system is ready. The fact that it weighs in at 13 kilograms tells you the digital electronics aren't setting the tone here, the power supply is.
Why the SDA200 Signature?
Because it brings the full feature set of Atoll's larger streamers along, yet still has a full-blown power amp on board. Two 340 VA toroidal transformers and 65,800 µF supply it; conversion runs through a Burr-Brown PCM1792 up to 24-bit / 192 kHz including DSD. Whatever you've got connects to it: four S/PDIF inputs, two USB-A sockets, two analogue line inputs, LAN and Wi-Fi.
What you get
Qobuz, Tidal with Tidal Connect, Spotify Connect, Deezer, HighResAudio, around 100,000 internet radio stations, Roon Ready and UPnP/DLNA for your own collection. Control is via the Atoll app, the 5-inch colour display or the remote control. A pre-out is on hand should a subwoofer join later – plus a headphone output for the evenings when the rest of the household is asleep.
Who is the SDA200 Signature for?
For ordinary living rooms and speakers with reasonable sensitivity – so for most people. And for anyone who wants a good system without three boxes on the shelf. Plain talk: it can't do phono, not even with a card. It doesn't take option cards, and there's no XLR output. If your speakers are considered hard to drive or the room exceeds 35 square metres, the SDA300 Signature is worth a look.
Our verdict
The SDA200 Signature is the point where all-in-one stops being a compromise. Geoffrey wrote on 11 March 2022 on Alpha Audio: «The SDA200 Signature is a very nice all-in-one device but also a great amplifier with balls and dynamics.» Hand on heart – when did you last actually enjoy your system instead of just operating it? Frequently asked questions
How much power does the Atoll SDA200 Signature have?
2×120 watts at 8 ohms and 2×200 watts at 4 ohms. The power amp is fed by two 340 VA toroidal transformers and 65,800 µF filter capacitance. That's clearly enough for the vast majority of bookshelf and floorstanding speakers in normal living rooms.
What's the difference between the SDA200 and SDA300 Signature?
Mainly power and mass: 2×120 instead of 2×150 watts, 13 instead of 19 kilograms. Streaming, app, converter and control concept are practically identical. If you don't have particularly demanding speakers, you lose little in everyday use with the SDA200 Signature.
Can I connect a turntable to the SDA200 Signature?
Not directly. It has two line inputs but no phono input and doesn't accept a phono card. You need an external phono preamp – for example the Atoll PH100 or PH200 – and connect it to one of the line inputs.
Does the SDA200 Signature have a headphone output?
Yes, a 6.35 mm jack on the front. That lets you listen without speakers too. With very high-impedance studio headphones, a dedicated headphone amplifier is still worthwhile – we'll tell you if yours falls into that category.
Why buy the Atoll SDA200 Signature from HD Zürisee?
Because with an all-in-one, speaker choice and network integration decide the result. We recommend suitable speakers, set the unit up at your place and take care of installation and service with our own technician.
Goes well with
It suits bookshelf speakers as much as floorstanding speakers. For vinyl you need a phono preamp – plus the right cables.
