The Atoll P100 is a plug-in card that turns a line input of an Atoll amplifier into a phono input for MM and MC cartridges.
It's the big sister of the P50 – and the reason an Atoll amplifier is rarely ever truly finished. What isn't needed today can still be retrofitted in five years.
Why the P100?
Because it can do two things a beginner phono stage can't: amplify MC cartridges cleanly and match the cartridge. The circuit is fully balanced, built from discrete components, and runs in Class A. You set gain, input impedance, and capacitance separately for left and right – and because the card sits inside the amplifier, it shares its power supply and shielding.
What you get
A universal phono input with no extra chassis. 40 dB for MM, 46 dB for high-output MC, and 52 dB for low-output MC cover practically anything sitting on a normal tonearm. After installation you simply select the repurposed AUX input on the amplifier – done. It fits all Atoll integrated and preamplifiers except the IN30.
Who is the P100 suited for?
For anyone running MC or planning to – and for anyone who switches between cartridges and therefore needs adjustment options. In plain terms: anyone permanently running just one MM cartridge gets just as far with the more affordable P50. With very quiet low-output MCs, 52 dB reaches its limit; there an external PH200 is the better choice. And the AUX input is used up afterward.
Our verdict
When an Atoll amplifier is in the house and vinyl comes into the picture, the P100 is almost always the right answer – you'll struggle to find more phono stage for this money externally. We check with you whether your device can take the card, adjust it to your cartridge, and install it in-house. Frequently asked questions
Which Atoll devices does the P100 fit?
All Atoll integrated amplifiers except the IN30, as well as all Atoll preamplifiers – each in the SE, Signature, and Evolution versions. Specifically named are the IN50, IN80, IN100, IN200, IN300, IN400, and PR100, PR200, PR300. We check your device beforehand.
What's the difference between the P100 and the P50?
The P100 can additionally handle MC – with 46 dB for high-output and 52 dB for low-output cartridges. Input impedance and capacitance are also switchable, separately for left and right. The P50 is pure MM with fixed values.
What matching values does the P100 offer?
The input impedance can be chosen between 47 and 100 kiloohms, and the input capacitance between 100 picofarads and no capacitance – both separately for the left and right channel. That lets you match it exactly to your cartridge.
Do I lose an input because of the P100?
Yes, the card converts the AUX line input into a phono input. No additional RCA sockets are added. With five line inputs available, this is usually not an issue in practice – we'll go through your sources with you.
Why buy the Atoll P100 at HD Zürisee?
Because a phono stage only sounds good once gain, impedance, and capacitance match the cartridge. We set that up with you, install the card in-house, and check that it works – you get the device back ready to use.
Goes well with
It belongs in an Atoll integrated amplifier or preamplifier. Ahead of it, a turntable with an MM or MC cartridge – and a good phono cable.
