The Atoll IN200 Evolution is an analogue stereo integrated amplifier in dual-mono construction, delivering 2×120 watts at 8 ohms and expandable with phono and DAC cards.
It's the heart of the Atoll range – the model most people start with and many stick with. Twelve kilograms for an amplifier with no display, no app and no streaming service: the money goes where you can hear it.
Why the IN200 Evolution?
Because it brings dual-mono philosophy to a price class where it's rarely found. Two 340 VA toroidal transformers, 59,220 µF filter capacitance, a signal path kept separate throughout. Five line inputs, a home-cinema bypass, a pre-out for a subwoofer or bi-amping – and an AUX input that turns into a phono input with a plug-in card.
What you hear
Order. The bass stays dry, the midrange open, and even when things get busy, every voice keeps its place. At 4 ohms it steps up to 2×200 watts instead of faltering – you'll notice that with speakers that look harmless on paper but really aren't. A pre-heat mode keeps it operationally warm without constantly drawing full power.
Who is the IN200 Evolution for?
For anyone looking for an amplifier for the next decade who wants to build it up step by step – analogue today, phono tomorrow, DAC the day after. Plain talk: it doesn't come with streaming, digital inputs are an option card. There's no XLR input, that only arrives with the IN300 Evolution. If you want a complete network solution in one chassis, the SDA200 Signature is the better fit.
Our verdict
When someone asks us for an amplifier with a budget of around two thousand francs that will last, we very often land here. The French trade magazine Haute Fidélité rated it in issue No. 272 (December 2025 / January 2026) at 8 out of 10 for tonal colour and dynamics and 8 out of 10 for value for money. Frequently asked questions
How much power does the Atoll IN200 Evolution have?
2×120 watts at 8 ohms and 2×200 watts at 4 ohms. Behind that stand two 340 VA toroidal transformers and 59,220 µF filter capacitance in true dual-mono construction. That's enough for the vast majority of speakers in living rooms up to around 35 square metres.
Can I connect a turntable to the IN200 Evolution?
Yes, with a phono card. The P50 turns the AUX input into an MM input, the P100 can additionally handle MC with switchable termination impedance. Without a card, you connect an external phono preamp to one of the five line inputs.
Does the Atoll IN200 Evolution have digital inputs?
Not from the factory. The DA200 card retrofits two coaxial and two optical inputs, USB-B and a Bluetooth receiver. That turns the purely analogue amplifier into a digital hub for TV, computer and phone. We fit the card.
Does the IN200 Evolution have a headphone output?
Yes, a 6.35 mm jack on the front. As soon as you plug in, the speakers mute. With very demanding headphones, a dedicated headphone amplifier is still worthwhile – we'll tell you where the line is.
Why buy the Atoll IN200 Evolution from HD Zürisee?
Because with the right speakers this amplifier plays well above its price class – and with the wrong ones it doesn't. We find the right combination, retrofit phono or DAC cards and take care of delivery, installation and service with our own technician.
Goes well with
It pairs well with bookshelf or floorstanding speakers. Good source components are a streamer, a CD player or a turntable – plus the right cables.
