Ja, sehr gut. Über HDMI ARC genügt ein einziges Kabel zum Fernseher, die Lautstärke regelst du weiterhin mit der TV-Fernbedienung. Gegenüber dem flachen Ton aus dem Fernseher oder einer kleinen Soundbar gewinnen Stimmen, Musik und Filmton deutlich an Körper und Räumlichkeit.

Wie laut kann der Fenris A5 spielen?

Für Wohnräume bis etwa 30 Quadratmeter reicht die Leistung locker: 50 Watt treiben pro Box den Tief-/Mitteltöner an, 25 Watt den Hochtöner. Weil die Endstufen direkt am Treiber sitzen und keine passive Weiche dazwischenliegt, bleibt der Klang auch bei gehobenem Pegel sauber.

Muss ich beide Lautsprecher an den Strom anschliessen?

The Argon Audio Fenris A5 is an active stereo pair that packs amplifiers, digital-to-analogue converter and inputs for TV, turntable and Bluetooth into two compact cabinets. Black is the most understated finish: under the TV or in a dark sideboard, you mainly see the picture, not the speaker.

Why the Fenris A5?

75 watts Class D per speaker, split into 50 watts for the 5.25-inch woofer/midrange and 25 watts for the fabric dome – each driver gets its own amplifier, separated by a digital crossover in the DSP. That spares the signal the passive-component route and is why the A5 doesn't lose its composure so easily at higher levels. Switching on/off and input selection are handled automatically.

What you get

Everything a living room needs sits on the back: HDMI ARC for the TV including volume control via the TV remote, an optical digital input, an analogue RCA input and a phono MM input for the turntable. Plus Bluetooth 5.0 and a pre-out for the subwoofer. Streaming services are an option, not a condition – vinyl, TV and local files are entirely enough.

Who is the Fenris A5 in Black suited to – and who isn't it for?

Honestly: if you're only sonicating a desk, buying the A5 gets you more speaker than you need – that's what the A4 is for. Is the Fenris A5 suitable as a TV speaker?

Yes, very much so. Via HDMI ARC a single cable to the TV is enough, and you keep controlling the volume with the TV remote. Compared with the flat sound from a TV or a small soundbar, voices, music and film sound gain noticeably in body and spatiality.

How loud can the Fenris A5 play?

For living rooms up to about 30 square metres, the power is easily enough: 50 watts drive the woofer/midrange per speaker, 25 watts the tweeter. Because the amplifiers sit right at the driver with no passive crossover in between, the sound stays clean even at elevated levels.

Do I need to plug both speakers into power?

No. Only the active main speaker with the connections needs a power outlet; the second one is connected via the included speaker cable. The cable is three metres long – which in practice limits the maximum distance between the two speakers.
