bFly-Audio PolarX Copper – Height-Adjustable Absorber

The bFly-Audio PolarX Copper is a height-adjustable absorber with an interchangeable copper conductor that decouples equipment or speakers from footfall and case resonances.

Unlike a rigid spike, the PolarX can be adjusted in height and fine-tuned tonally via the conductor – a tool for anyone who doesn't just want to decouple their system, but to tune it deliberately.

Why the PolarX Copper?

Every PolarX has an interchangeable top, the conductor. A POM plastic conductor is included as standard; the PolarX Copper additionally includes a copper conductor. The top also has a spike seat, so the PolarX can also be used under equipment or speakers with spikes.

What you hear

The copper conductor delivers a more earthy, natural sound than the supplied POM variant – firmer bass, more three-dimensional instrument bodies and a calmer, more spacious soundstage. If you swap the conductor for POM on several or all PolarX units, the sound becomes gradually softer and more analogue – so the effect can be finely dialed in.

Who is the PolarX Copper for (and who isn't it for)?

Ideal for anyone who wants to decouple deliberately under amplifiers, source components or speakers, and additionally fine-tune the sound in a chosen direction. Bottom line: a single PolarX does little – the effect only shows up when three or four are used together under one device, usually placed in a triangular arrangement.

How many PolarX do I need per device?

Usually three or four are used per device, often in a triangular arrangement with two under the heavier side (e.g. the transformer) and one centrally. Choose the size to match your device's weight.

What size fits my device?

That depends on your device's weight per contact point: PolarX-0 up to 1 kg, PolarX-1 up to 4 kg, PolarX-2 up to 10 kg, PolarX-3 up to 17 kg. At our store in Wädenswil, we're happy to weigh it through with you if you're unsure.

What does switching between the copper and POM conductor achieve?

Copper sounds more earthy and firm, POM slightly softer and more analogue. Since both conductors are included, you can compare both variants at home in your own time and choose the combination that suits your system.

Can I also use the PolarX under speakers with spikes?

Yes, the top of the conductor has a spike seat, so the PolarX can also be used under speakers that already have spikes fitted.
