Length 50 cm.

Frequently Asked Questions

When is Toslink the right choice?

When you want to avoid ground loops. The optical transmission galvanically isolates transmitter and receiver, so no ground current flows between the devices. This is the typical case with a TV, satellite receiver or games console connected to the system – exactly where a coaxial connection is prone to introducing hum.

What length and colour is the H-FLEX available in?

In 50 centimetres, in either the Cobra braid or understated black. The short length suits devices that are in the same rack or stacked directly on top of each other. When routing it, be sure to allow a generous bend radius – fibre optics tolerate tight kinks much less well than copper cables do.

Does Toslink fit every device?

Only devices with an optical digital output or input, recognisable by the square socket with a flap. Some compact devices and laptops instead use a mini-Toslink socket in a jack format, for which you'll additionally need an adapter. Check the back of your devices carefully before ordering.

Are there disadvantages compared with a coaxial connection?

Yes, two. Toslink is more limited than coaxial at very high sample rates, and the fibre optic reacts more sensitively to tight bends. In return, you get the galvanic isolation that no copper connection can offer you. With TV audio and stubborn hum problems, this advantage clearly outweighs the drawbacks in practice.

Why buy the ViaBlue H-FLEX from HD Zürisee?

Because a hum problem usually has a concrete cause and doesn't simply need an expensive cable. We go through with you where the ground loop is occurring, and only recommend something after that. HD Zürisee in Wädenswil advises on TV connections, rack setup and system combinations – by phone, email or WhatsApp.
