Thorens TP-92 OEM I – 12-Inch Tonearm (Loose Cables)
Couldn't load pickup availability
The Thorens TP-92 OEM I is a precision radial tonearm in 12-inch length with loose internal wiring for direct connection — the separately available OEM version of the proven TP-92 from the sub-chassis turntables TD 1600 and TD 1601.
The 12-inch variant is the choice for anyone who wants to keep the tracking error angle as small as possible — with loose tonearm cables for direct, fixed wiring in the turntable.
Why the TP-92 OEM I 12"?
Because it makes the quality of the standard arm from the 1600/1601 family available separately and in the long 12-inch version: height-adjustable (VTA), with a removable headshell and clean adjustability. The OEM I version comes with loose tonearm cables — ideal for your own, fixed phono wiring.
What you get
A mature radial tonearm that carries fine as well as heavy cartridges cleanly and can be adjusted reproducibly. The 12-inch length minimises the tracking error angle across the whole record — the most consistent geometry in the TP-92 range, if your turntable offers the space for it.
Who is the TP-92 OEM I 12" for?
For ambitious DIY builders and high-end projects where geometry comes above all else. To be clear: a 12-inch arm needs a turntable with enough space and the matching mounting distance — not every plinth can take it. It's worth checking beforehand, and that's exactly what we help with.
Our verdict
The geometrically cleanest solution in the TP-92 range — as a 12-inch version with loose cables, the basis for uncompromising DIY builds. We at HD Zürisee in Wädenswil help you with selection, mounting and alignment.

Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between the TP-92 OEM I and OEM II?
The connection: OEM I is supplied with loose tonearm cables, OEM II has a 5-pin mini-DIN socket for a plug-in tonearm cable. Sonically and mechanically both are identical — the choice depends on how you want to wire the arm.
Which turntables does the TP-92 12" fit?
The TP-92 is the standard arm of the Thorens sub-chassis models TD 1600 and TD 1601. The 12-inch variant needs an armboard with a matching, larger mounting distance and enough space on the turntable. We work out geometry and effective mass with you before installation.
What's the benefit of the 12-inch length?
The longer the arm, the smaller the tracking error angle and the lower the distortion — a 12-inch version delivers the most consistent geometry here. The price for this is more space required and a slightly higher effective mass, which should match the cartridge.
Why buy the TP-92 OEM I 12" from HD Zürisee?
Because a tonearm bought separately stands or falls with mounting and alignment. We work out geometry and compatibility with you, mount and align it on request, and tune the arm to your system. As an experienced team in Wädenswil, you're not on your own afterwards either.
