What you hear

Who is the SL-1200G suited for? (and who it isn't – plain talk)

Honestly: the Grand Class deck is for anyone who wants a turntable for life – solid, precise, uncomplicated in everyday use. What you should know: a cartridge is not included, you choose one deliberately to suit yourself, and it has no built-in phono preamp – you'll need one separately (or an amplifier with a phono input). If you just want to hear vinyl quickly and cheaply, you're better served one or two classes down.

Does the SL-1200G come with a cartridge?
No, the Grand Class deck ships without a cartridge – deliberately, so you can choose the system freely. The detachable headshell makes mounting and later swaps easy. We're happy to help you work out which MM or MC cartridge is the ideal sonic and mechanical match.

Do I need a phono preamp for the SL-1200G?
Yes. The turntable outputs the pure cartridge signal. So you need an amplifier with a phono input or a separate phono preamp. It sounds more complicated than it is – we'll show you suitable solutions for any budget.

Isn't this a DJ turntable?
