The WiiM Sound Lite is an active streaming speaker that uses the same technology as the bigger WiiM Sound – just without the touch display and without an included remote. Same drivers, same power, noticeably cheaper.

Why the WiiM Sound Lite?

Because at most placement spots, nobody looks at the display anyway. In the kitchen, bedroom, or office, control runs through your phone or directly from Spotify, TIDAL, and Qobuz – and that's exactly what the Sound Lite is built for.

It connects via Wi-Fi or network cable, supports Chromecast, Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect, Amazon Music Cast, DLNA, and Roon Ready, and fits into a multiroom group with other WiiM devices.

What you'll hear

A 4-inch long-throw woofer and two 1-inch silk dome tweeters share 100 watts of peak power, crossed over at 2.4 kHz. That produces a surprisingly full sound for its size – and one that doesn't lose its composure at the first loud passage.

RoomFit calibration runs via your smartphone's microphone and corrects for whatever the room interferes with. Two Sound Lite units can be paired into a real stereo pair – that's what the Twin-Pack is for, and it's cheaper than two individual units.

Who is the WiiM Sound Lite for?

For anyone who wants good sound in a secondary room and can do without a display. And for anyone who wants to start small and expand later – a second unit for stereo, a Sub Pro for the foundation, a WiiM Bar for the living room.

Plain talk: No AirPlay 2, no built-in microphone for hands-free voice commands, and no remote in the box – you'll need to get the WiiM Voice Remote 2 separately if you want one. For comparison: the WiiM Sound includes a display and remote. Whether that's worth the extra cost to you simply depends on where the device stands.

Our verdict

The Sound Lite is the sensible variant for anyone who doesn't need a display: the same sound basis, less money. That makes it one of the most honest entry points into connected sound we currently carry. At HD Zürisee in Wädenswil, we're happy to help you work out whether a single unit is enough or the stereo pair is the better route.

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between WiiM Sound and Sound Lite?

The Sound Lite goes without the 1.8-inch touch display and the included Voice Remote 2 Lite. Drivers, amplifier power, frequency range, streaming protocols, and RoomFit are identical. Anyone who controls the device via app or Spotify Connect anyway loses practically nothing.

Can I pair two WiiM Sound Lite units into a stereo pair?

Yes. In the WiiM Home app, you connect two devices into a real stereo pair with left and right channels. You'll come out cheaper with the Sound Lite Twin-Pack. A mixed combination of Sound and Sound Lite is also possible.

Does the WiiM Sound Lite have AirPlay 2?

No. Chromecast, Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect, Amazon Music Cast, DLNA, and Roon Ready are supported – AirPlay 2 is not included. In an all-Apple household, it's worth briefly going through with us beforehand how you actually stream your music.

Do I need a paid streaming subscription?

No. Internet radio, podcasts, and music from your NAS or computer work without a subscription, as do Bluetooth and the aux input. You can use services like Spotify, Tidal, or Qobuz if you like – the speaker doesn't require them.

Why buy the WiiM Sound Lite at HD Zürisee?

Because we tell you where the Sound Lite is enough and where the Twin-Pack or a small classic system pays off more. That kind of guidance is the real value of a specialist store. Add delivery, setup, and a technician on hand in case the network acts up.

Goes well with

For real stereo, it's worth looking at the streaming speakers, and for the foundation, the subwoofers. If you want to bring TV sound along, check out the soundbars. A classic chain is built from streaming amplifiers with bookshelf speakers. Everything from WiiM: WiiM overview.
