The WiiM Sound is an active streaming speaker with a round touch display that combines network player, amplifier, and speaker in one enclosure. One device, one power cable, done – and still no toy.

Why the WiiM Sound?

Because it works where a proper system has no room: kitchen, bedroom, office, garden house. It connects via Wi-Fi or network cable and plays everything that matters today – Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect, Chromecast, Amazon Music Cast, DLNA, and Roon Ready.

The 1.8-inch touch display shows cover art, the time, or status, and can be operated directly. The WiiM Voice Remote 2 Lite is included – so not everyone in the household has to install an app first just to turn the music down.

What you'll hear

A 4-inch long-throw woofer and two 1-inch silk dome tweeters share 100 watts of peak power. That produces a surprisingly full, cleanly layered sound for its size, one that doesn't tip into shouting even at higher levels.

RoomFit calibration measures the placement using your smartphone's microphone and corrects the worst room effects. Especially on a kitchen shelf between tiles and glass doors, this makes more of a difference than you'd expect.

Who is the WiiM Sound for?

For anyone who wants good sound in a room where no system should stand. Two units can be paired into a real stereo pair, and they also work as rear speakers with the WiiM Bar.

Plain talk: No AirPlay 2 and no built-in microphone for hands-free voice commands – you control Alexa or Google via the remote or another device. And we'll stay honest: the trade press is divided. LowBeats celebrates it, What Hi-Fi? finds the sound too reserved for this price class. If you're after the last bit of depth, pair it with a WiiM Sub Pro or go straight for a classic system.

Our verdict

The WiiM Sound is a very sensible all-rounder for secondary rooms – and thanks to stereo pairing and sub connectivity, it can grow too. Hand on heart: in how many rooms of your home does music currently play through a phone speaker? That's exactly where a device like this belongs. At HD Zürisee in Wädenswil, we're happy to advise you on where the extra cost of a bigger system pays off.

Awarded: 4.7 out of 5, rated "outstanding" – LowBeats, February 2026

What the trade press says: "WiiM had a reputation to lose, but with the Sound it won on several fronts at once. Even on new turf, it manages a broadside against the big, established names." – LowBeats, February 2026

Frequently asked questions

Can I pair two WiiM Sound units into a stereo pair?

Yes. In the WiiM Home app, you connect two devices into a real stereo pair with left and right channels. This is especially worthwhile in larger rooms, since it creates a real soundstage instead of a single sound point. A combination of Sound and Sound Lite is also possible.

Does the WiiM Sound have AirPlay 2?

No. It supports Chromecast, Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect, Amazon Music Cast, DLNA, and Roon Ready, but not AirPlay 2. If you want to stream from your iPhone via AirPlay, you'll need a different device – just tell us briefly how you listen to music, and we'll find the right way.

How low does the WiiM Sound play, and do I need a subwoofer?

The frequency range goes down to 50 Hz, which is usually enough for music in normal rooms. For film sound or electronic music with a deep foundation, a WiiM Sub Pro can be added wirelessly. That then gives you a cleanly calibrated 2.1 system.

Is a remote control included?

Yes, the WiiM Sound comes with the WiiM Voice Remote 2 Lite, including a USB charging cable. It lets you control volume, playback, and presets without reaching for your phone. The more affordable WiiM Sound Lite doesn't include a remote, but one can be added separately.

Why buy the WiiM Sound at HD Zürisee?

Because we tell you honestly when a smart speaker is the right answer – and when a small amplifier with two speakers delivers noticeably more for a bit more money. You won't get that kind of guidance from any online retailer. Add delivery, setup, and a contact person you actually know.

Goes well with

More depth is delivered by the subwoofers, and you'll find more choice in wireless solutions among the streaming speakers. If you'd rather build a classic setup, check out the streaming amplifiers and bookshelf speakers. For the living room, there are the soundbars. Everything from WiiM: WiiM overview.
