The Cabasse The Pearl Pelegrina is an active floorstanding speaker that combines a streamer, DAC, four amplifiers and a quadricoaxial four-way system in each of its two spheres.

It's the flagship of the Pearl collection, named after one of the most famous pearls in the world – and it plays as if it wants to live up to that name with every note.

Why the Pearl Pelegrina?

3700 W RMS per cabinet, split across four amplifiers, a 30 cm HELD woofer and, ahead of it, the tri-coaxial TCA driver: the Pelegrina builds a stage that doesn't sit between you but forms around you. The spherical front radiates evenly into the room instead of aiming only at the sweet spot. The automatic CRCS room correction measures your four walls via a built-in microphone and takes the boom out of the bass. Bottom line: this isn't a speaker that just runs in the background, but a complete system in two spheres – with no stack of gear behind it.

What you get

A converter that resolves up to 32 bit / 768 kHz, formats from FLAC and ALAC to DSD128, network via LAN or dual-band Wi-Fi, plus Roon Ready and Apple AirPlay 2 for multiroom. Streaming here is an option, not a requirement: via the optical input, RCA, the balanced XLR input and USB-A, you play a turntable (via phono stage), CD, TV sound or local files from a network drive just as well, and internet radio runs without any subscription. If you like, add Qobuz, Tidal, Deezer, Spotify or Napster. Control is via the Bluetooth remote or the StreamCONTROL app.

Who is the Pelegrina for – and who isn't it for?

Ideal for medium to large, well-furnished living rooms and for anyone who wants uncompromising high-end sound without maintaining a rack full of components. Honestly: if you just want quiet background music in a small room, this is overkill – a Pearl Akoya will do. And if you want to build a classic setup with your own preamp and amplifier of choice, look elsewhere too. But for its purpose, the Pelegrina plays right at the top.

Does the Pearl Pelegrina need a separate amplifier?

No. Each sphere houses a streamer, DAC and four amplifiers delivering 3700 W RMS together. You need neither a preamp nor a power amp, just power, network and your sources. That's exactly what makes the Pelegrina a complete system in two speakers.

Is the Pelegrina sold individually or as a pair?

As a pair. Cabasse offers the flagship exclusively as a stereo pair – unlike the smaller Pearl spheres, which are also available individually. Each of the two 45 kg spheres brings its own electronics and is treated as part of the stereo system during calibration. Our technician sets both up on site.

Does the Pelegrina work without a streaming subscription?

Yes. Besides Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, it has an optical input, RCA, a balanced XLR input and USB-A. That lets you play a turntable (via phono stage), CD player, TV sound or local files from a network drive. Internet radio runs without a subscription. A streaming service is an option, not a must.

Do I also need a subwoofer?

No. The 30 cm HELD woofer in each sphere reaches down to 10 Hz and needs no reinforcement in living rooms. Cabasse doesn't list a dedicated subwoofer output for the Pelegrina in its spec sheet. If you still want to expand, we'll clarify that directly with distribution beforehand.

What room size is the Pelegrina meant for?

For medium to large living rooms; the trade press names 20 to 60 square metres. The automatic room correction adapts the sound to the placement, but the flagship unfolds its potential where it has room to breathe. In very small rooms, a Pearl Akoya is the smarter choice.
