The Blok Stax 2G Module 170 is a build-up level for the modular Blok Stax 2G HiFi rack, providing 170 mm of usable height for one device.
This finish combines black-stained ash with natural walnut – a warm, calm material mix that looks neither like a furniture store nor a studio shelf, and sits equally well next to light and dark electronics.
Why the Module 170?
Because a rack should adapt to your devices, not the other way round. The Stax 2G consists of levels with graduated usable heights that you stack freely. The 170 is the workhorse level here: integrated amplifiers, CD players, streamers and most turntables without a dust cover fit underneath it. You set it on the base module or between existing levels, bringing your rack step by step closer to your system instead of living with fixed standard spacings.
What you get
A shelf made from 13 mm thick plywood, carried by four supports that connect invisibly with M10 screws into the level below. Silicone isolation pads sit between the levels and against the base, damping structure-borne sound before it reaches the device. The supports are hollow and each hold around 2.2 litres of inert material – dry sand or quartz granulate will do. You can load each level with up to 40 kg, so even power amps that treat weight as a quality mark are no problem.
Who is the Module 170 suitable for?
For anyone expanding their Stax 2G or planning one from scratch. Straight talk: the Module 170 doesn't stand alone – it strictly needs a base module underneath, because that's where the feet, spikes and assembly tool are included. If your turntable has a dust cover or your tube amplifier needs headroom, take the Module 220 instead; for the record collection there's the Module LP. Blok recommends a maximum of 1100 mm for the whole build – beyond that, even the nicest stack gets unsteady.
Our verdict
The Module 170 is the level most people end up needing two of. It covers the majority of common HiFi devices, it looks homely rather than technical in Ash Black/Walnut, and it can be rearranged later as your system grows. The Stax 2G system was awarded the EISA "AV Furniture 2024-2025" prize – a nice confirmation for a piece of furniture you usually only notice once it's missing. Frequently asked questions
How tall can devices on the Module 170 be?
Up to 170 mm. That's the usable height between the shelf and the level above. For devices that get warm, add a few millimetres of clearance for ventilation, and factor in the space that stiff mains and speaker cables need at the back. Otherwise it's an exact fit.
Do I need a base module for the Module 170?
Yes. The Module 170 is a build-up level with no feet of its own; height-adjustable feet with spikes, the assembly tool and the setup instructions belong to the base module. The module itself comes with four M10 screws, which you use to set it onto the level below. You don't need anything else.
How much weight does a level carry?
40 kg per level, according to Blok. That means heavy integrated amplifiers and power amps are no issue at all. If you like it really calm, fill the hollow supports with dry sand – around 2.2 litres per support – and take the last bit of resonance out of the build.
Can I mix the Module 170 with other module heights?
Yes, all Stax 2G modules stack freely and can be rearranged later. Common choices are 120 mm for flat devices, 170 mm for amplifiers and players, 220 mm for tall components, and the Module LP for record storage. Blok recommends a maximum of 1100 mm total height.

Goes well with
The Module 170 needs a foundation and gets along well with neighbours: the Blok Stax 2G Base Module in Ash Black/Walnut as the bottom level, plus Module 120 for flat devices, Module 220 for tall components and Module LP for the record collection. What goes on top you'll find among turntables, CD players, integrated amplifiers and in streaming.
