The WiiM Sub Pro is an active subwoofer with an 8-inch driver that joins your system wirelessly over the network or classically via RCA. It's the foundation under a WiiM setup – and the reason compact speakers suddenly sound grown-up.

Why the WiiM Sub Pro?

Because it solves the cable problem. A subwoofer rarely stands where a power outlet and an RCA cable happen to meet. The Sub Pro connects to your WiiM device directly over Wi-Fi 6E, with very low latency and without a cable having to run across the living room. If you'd rather wire it up, use the RCA input – then it works with any system that has a subwoofer output.

Fine-tuning happens entirely in the WiiM Home app: crossover frequency, phase, delay, level and a 10-band equalizer. No gut-feeling twiddling of dials on the back while someone on the sofa shouts "more" or "less".

What you hear

A 250 W Class-D amplifier drives the 8-inch long-throw driver in a bass-reflex enclosure down to 25 Hz. The result isn't an intrusive boom, but exactly what a compact speaker physically lacks: the foundation under double bass, kick drum and film sound.

RoomFit calibration measures your room via the paired WiiM device and smooths out the roughest peaks. Especially in living rooms with a lot of glass and little fabric, that's the difference between "bass" and "mush".

Who is the WiiM Sub Pro for?

For anyone with a WiiM Ultra, Amp Pro, Amp Ultra, Sound or Sound Lite who wants to turn a small system into a full one. And for anyone looking for a wireless subwoofer who doesn't want to be tied to one closed system – via RCA it fits any system with a sub output.

Straight talk: The Sub Pro doesn't work wirelessly with the WiiM VibeLink Amp – this amplifier has neither a network connection nor a subwoofer output. And at 16 kilograms and nearly 40 centimetres wide, the Sub Pro isn't a piece of furniture you casually move around. Measure up where it should stand beforehand; subwoofers react sensitively to placement.

Our verdict

The Sub Pro is the most sensible upgrade a WiiM system can get. It turns two compact speakers into a system that doesn't hold back during movie nights, and the app calibration takes the usual fiddling off your hands. At HD Zürisee in Wädenswil, we're happy to help you with the question that matters most: where in the room it should stand.

Frequently asked questions

Which devices does the WiiM Sub Pro work with wirelessly?

Wirelessly, it works together with the WiiM network devices: Ultra, Amp Pro, Amp Ultra, Sound, Sound Lite and the WiiM Bar. This isn't possible with the VibeLink Amp, which has neither a network connection nor a subwoofer output. Via the RCA input, it works with any system that has a sub output.

Can I also run the Sub Pro with a non-WiiM system?

Yes. The RCA input accepts the signal from any amplifier or AV receiver with a subwoofer output. RoomFit calibration and app fine-tuning are then only available to a limited extent, though, because they run via a paired WiiM device.

Where in the room should I place the subwoofer?

Usually near the front speakers, but not exactly in a corner – there, the room boosts the bass. A distance of 20 to 50 centimetres from the wall is a good starting point. Then calibrate. We're happy to go through the placement together on request – that often achieves more than more expensive gear.

Why buy the WiiM Sub Pro at HD Zürisee?

Because a subwoofer is the component where room and placement matter more than the spec sheet. That's exactly where our experience counts most. Our technician Maurizio delivers and calibrates on-site on request – at 16 kilograms, an offer that's usually gladly accepted.
