The Cabasse The Pearl Pelegrina is an active floorstanding speaker that combines a streamer, DAC, four amplifiers and a quadricoaxial four-way system in each sphere – here in high-gloss white.

Why the Pearl Pelegrina?

Four amplifiers delivering a combined 3700 W RMS per cabinet, a patented 30 cm HELD woofer and the tri-coaxial TCA driver in front of it: this lets the Pelegrina resolve even dense recordings cleanly and fill large rooms with ease. The spherical cabinet spreads the sound evenly instead of just serving the sweet spot. CRCS room correction measures automatically via a built-in microphone and keeps the bass precise. Bottom line: this is a complete high-end chain packed into two speakers – streamer, DAC and amplifiers included.

What you get

A converter up to 32 bit / 768 kHz, formats from FLAC and ALAC to DSD128, network via LAN or dual-band Wi-Fi, plus Roon Ready and Apple AirPlay 2 for multiroom. Streaming is optional, not mandatory: via optical input, RCA, balanced XLR input and USB-A you can connect a turntable (via phono stage), CD player or TV, with internet radio thrown in for free. If you use streaming services, you'll find Qobuz, Tidal, Deezer, Spotify and Napster in the app. Control is via Bluetooth remote or the StreamCONTROL app.

Who is the Pelegrina suited for – and who isn't it for?

Built for demanding listeners with space and a wish for uncompromising sound without a rack full of gear. Honestly: in a small bedroom it would be wasted – a Pearl Akoya is enough there. And if you enjoy tinkering with separate pre- and power amps, classic components suit you better. If you want the best in one self-contained system, the Pelegrina is where you land.

In white, the Pelegrina looks almost like a sculpture – and yet sounds like a full-blown system. Frequently asked questions

Does the Pearl Pelegrina work without an additional amplifier?

Yes. Each sphere brings its own streamer, DAC and four amplifiers with a combined 3700 W RMS. A preamp or power amp is unnecessary – power, network and a source are all you need. That makes the Pelegrina a complete system in two speakers, with no rack and no cable clutter behind it. All you connect is what you actually want to listen to.

Can I get the Pelegrina as a single unit, or only as a pair?

Only as a pair. Cabasse offers the flagship exclusively as a stereo pair, while the smaller Pearl spheres are also available individually. Both cabinets have their own electronics and are calibrated to the room together. The official Cabasse price list also lists the Pelegrina explicitly as a pair.

Can I use the Pelegrina without a streaming subscription?

Yes. Via optical input, RCA, XLR and USB-A you can play a CD, turntable (with phono stage), TV sound or local files from network storage. Internet radio runs free of charge. Services like Qobuz, Tidal, Deezer, Spotify or Napster can be added later – they're an option, not a requirement.

Does it make sense to add a subwoofer?

No. The large HELD woofer reaches down to 10 Hz, which leaves nothing missing in a living room. Cabasse also doesn't list a dedicated subwoofer output for the Pelegrina in the datasheet. If you're still considering an extension, we'll check the options with the distributor beforehand.

What room size does the Pelegrina need?

Medium to large living rooms; the trade press recommends 20 to 60 square metres. The automatic room correction adapts it to the setup, but the flagship only shows its full capability with some space around it. In small rooms, the Pearl Akoya is the better fit.
