The Bluesound Pulse Sub+ is an active subwoofer that connects wirelessly via BluOS into an existing Bluesound system and takes over the deep bass there.

Straight talk: a well-tuned system without a foundation doesn't sound wrong, just lean. The Pulse Sub+ adds that foundation without a single extra signal cable running across your living room. In matte black, it stays flat enough that you can easily overlook it in the room.

Why the Pulse Sub+?

A 20 cm long-throw woofer with a polypropylene cone and a Class D amplifier with Smart DSP deliver 150 watts of continuous power and up to 200 watts of dynamic peak. Bluesound specifies the frequency response as 22 to 150 hertz (±2 dB), reaching down to 20 hertz at −10 dB. The flat, trapezoid enclosure stands upright, lies flat, or mounts on the wall – you put it where there's space, not where the cable happens to end.

What you get

The connection runs wirelessly over Wi-Fi to BluOS devices from Generation 2 onward: Pulse speakers, Pulse Soundbar+ and Cinema, Powernode or Node. If you'd rather wire it, use the mono RCA input at line level. Also included: Ethernet, USB for firmware and service, magnetic rubber feet for both orientations, and a wall mount in the box. Level, crossover frequency and phase are set in the BluOS app, and an LED ring shows status.

Who is the Pulse Sub+ for?

The logical addition if you already use Bluesound and want more depth – for music as well as for home cinema. Honestly: outside a BluOS system it works fine via RCA, but it gives up exactly the argument you bought it for. It has no automatic room calibration, so you set it up manually. And if you want to fill very large rooms at cinema levels, plan on a bigger enclosure or two subs right away.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Pulse Sub+ really wireless?

Except for the power connection, yes. The signal transmission runs over Wi-Fi via BluOS, so you don't need a speaker or RCA cable for that. If you'd rather wire it permanently or use it outside Bluesound, use the mono RCA input. Both routes are open to you – you choose based on room and placement.

Which devices does the Pulse Sub+ work with?

With BluOS devices from Generation 2 onward: Pulse speakers, Pulse Soundbar+ and Cinema, Powernode and Node. Pairing happens in the BluOS app, where you also set level and crossover frequency right away. Outside the Bluesound system, it connects via mono RCA to any amplifier with a subwoofer output.

How do I set up the Pulse Sub+?

Upright, lying flat, or on the wall – magnetic rubber feet and the wall mount are included. The flat enclosure measures 457 × 300 × 146 millimeters, so it also fits under a sideboard. Try two or three positions; in the bass, placement often matters more than any setting.
