Grado 3.5mm Headphone Extension Cable X-Series

The Grado X-series headphone extension cable extends your Grado cable by 4.5 metres – with a 3.5mm jack plug to 3.5mm jack socket, so you can stay comfortably seated even when your amplifier, PC or player is further away.

It's made from the same super-annealed copper as the X-series headphone cables and protected by a braided sheath.

Why this cable?

Grado uses the same wiring for the extension as in the headphones themselves – four conductors, super-annealed copper, braided sheathing. Grado guarantees that sound quality with Grado headphones doesn't suffer as a result. For even more reach, up to three cables can be connected in series.

What you get

4.5 metres of extra freedom of movement in Grado quality: braided sheath, snugly fitting connectors and a construction that matches the headphone cable itself – no cheap adapter between you and the music.

Who is it for?

For anyone with Grado headphones with a 3.5mm connector whose original cable is too short. Plain talk: if you want to extend a 6.3mm jack connector, take the 6.3mm variant – or combine it with the appropriate adapter.

Our verdict

An unspectacular but sensible accessory: more freedom of movement without loss of sound quality. Exactly what you'd expect from Grado.

Frequently asked questions

Does the cable fit all Grado headphones?

It fits Grado headphones with a 3.5mm connector. Many Grado models have a fixed cable with a removable 6.3mm adapter – in that case, you extend at the 3.5mm level. If in doubt, we'll clarify the right combination with you.

Does sound quality suffer from the extension?

According to Grado, no: the extension uses the same conductor construction as the headphone cable itself. Even with up to three cables connected in series, the sound with Grado headphones stays unchanged – unlike with thin universal extensions.
