The Dynavox PST300 is a record weight (stabilizer) made of aluminium with a built-in spirit level, which presses the record flat onto the platter.

About 300 grams, 80 millimeters in diameter, black anodized. Why the PST300?

A record is rarely as flat as the pressing plant would like. Slight warps and a raised edge have to be ironed out by the stylus, and that costs stability. The PST300 puts mass exactly where it does the most good: on the label, directly above the platter bearing. The record couples more cleanly to the platter, and residual vibration migrates into the aluminium instead of back into the groove.

Does the PST300 fit under a closed dust cover?

You should measure that beforehand. At 36 millimeters in height plus record thickness, it gets tight under flat covers. Measure the gap between the record on the platter and the inside of the cover; if about four centimeters of clearance remain, it fits. Otherwise, you'll listen with the cover open, which doesn't hurt the sound anyway.

Does a record weight help with warped records?

With slight warps, yes. The weight presses the record flat onto the platter at the centre, the stylus gets a calmer track, and the up-and-down variation decreases. The PST300 can't flatten severely deformed or dish-shaped records either – for that you need a clamp with counter-pressure at the edge.

What's the spirit level good for?

It shows you whether your turntable is level. That's not cosmetic: if the turntable sits crooked, the stylus pulls sideways in the groove, the anti-skating no longer matches, and wear increases. Adjust the feet until the bubble sits centred – two minutes of effort, lasting benefit.

Black or silver – is there a sound difference?

No. Both versions are structurally identical: same aluminium, same mass, same dimensions, same spirit level. The difference is purely visual. Black blends discreetly into dark platter mats and plinths, silver adds an accent on brushed aluminium platters. Decide here by eye, not by ear.
