The Canton Townus 100 is a 3-way floorstanding speaker that, as the flagship of the Townus series, brings more foundation and headroom than its smaller siblings.
Narrow front, four drivers, bass down to 20 Hz — and with two 192 mm woofers the 100 plays audibly more grown-up than the 90, without turning into a piece of furniture for advanced users. It's delivered as a pair, in white satin.
Why the Canton Townus 100?
The difference from the smaller Townus models lies in the bass range: two 192 mm titanium-diaphragm woofers replace the 90's 174 mm drivers, pulling more cone area and control out of the same three-way concept. A dedicated 174 mm midrange driver stays reserved for voices and instruments, while a 25 mm ceramic dome resolves up to 40,000 Hz above it. With 180 watts nominal and 340 watts music power handling, the 100 has noticeably more headroom for when things are allowed to get loud in the living room — and that's exactly where you first hear what you're actually paying for with the larger cabinet.
What you hear
A foundation you feel more than hear, and above it a midrange that doesn't break a sweat even at volume. The dedicated midrange driver keeps voices free of bass and treble, so orchestras and dense rock mixes don't sound cramped, just bigger. Down to 20 Hz, stereo generally doesn't need an additional subwoofer — though for home cinema, one doesn't hurt.
Who is the Canton Townus 100 suited for?
Plain talk: the Townus 100 is meant for medium to larger living spaces where the 90 reaches its limits, without you wanting to jump straight to an XXL-format floorstander. If you only listen to quiet music occasionally, you're buying more speaker than you need here — the 90 is plenty. But if you want level, orchestral scale or home cinema with real punch, the 100 gives you exactly the headroom smaller floorstanders can no longer deliver.
Our verdict
More foundation, more headroom, the same slim concept — the Townus 100 takes the proven Townus formula and makes it a size more grown-up without becoming unwieldy. Honestly: whether the step up from the 90 is worth it depends heavily on room size and listening habits — at HD Zürisee in Wädenswil, we work through that with you before you decide between the two.

Frequently asked questions
Is the Townus 100 delivered as a pair?
Yes, you get two floorstanding speakers as a complete stereo pair. Each speaker weighs around 25 kilograms and arrives individually packaged. Unpacking and setting them up is easier with two people — easier on both the base and your back — after that, the Townus 100 stands stable and ready for toe-in.
How deep does the Townus 100 really go?
According to Canton's datasheet, down to 20 Hz, at 340 watts music power. The bass reflex port sits in the base and fires downward, which keeps placement pleasantly uncritical. For pure stereo you generally don't need an additional subwoofer; for home cinema, one still makes sense.
How much amplifier power does the Townus 100 need?
Nominal power handling is 180 watts, music power handling 340 watts, each at 4 to 8 ohms. Around 100 to 200 watts per channel is a good rule of thumb for everyday use. More decisive than raw wattage, though, is a stable power supply in the amplifier, so the bass stays controlled even at volume.
Townus 100 or Townus 90 — what's the difference?
The Townus 100 is the larger flagship: two 192 mm woofers instead of 174 mm bring more foundation and headroom within the same three-way concept. For small to medium rooms, the 90 is entirely sufficient; for larger living rooms, or if you regularly listen louder, the 100 plays with more composure. The difference is audible, but not a must for every room.
Why buy the Canton Townus 100 from HD Zürisee?
Because a large floorstander only shows what it's capable of with the right electronics and correct placement. Here, you consult with a team that has known since 1997 which floorstanders actually hold up in everyday use — we deliver the pair to you, set it up, and technician Mauri stays reachable for service afterward.
Goes well with
A powerful integrated amplifier or a power amplifier, a subwoofer for the last octave, and matching speaker cable. More models in the series are under Canton.
