The Canton Power Sub 12 S2 is an active subwoofer with a built-in amplifier, built as the largest model in the Power Sub S2 series for open, large living rooms and home cinema that needs real impact.

No wireless, no smart pairing – just plug in RCA or speaker cable, and the 308 mm driver with passive radiator delivers down low what even large floorstanding speakers often can't manage anymore. 380 watts of music power, black finish, sold individually.

Why the Canton Power Sub 12 S2?

The Sub 12 S2 is the big one in the series, for when an 8- or 10-inch chassis simply isn't enough for the room anymore. The 308 mm driver with aluminium-titanium cone works front-firing, with an additional passive radiator firing downward – that gives you cone area and headroom that smaller subwoofers can no longer deliver. The built-in amplifier puts out 200 watts RMS and 380 watts music power, and the three-stage room adjustment corrects rough placement errors right on the unit, even in large rooms.

What you get

  • Active subwoofer with built-in amplifier: 200 W RMS, 380 W music power
  • 308 mm woofer (aluminium-titanium, wave surround) with additional passive radiator, downfiring
  • Crossover frequency continuously adjustable from 50 to 200 Hz
  • Three-stage room adjustment
  • High-level and low-level inputs plus a low-level output
  • Automatic switch-on and switch-off
  • Height-adjustable feet, spike-ready
  • Black finish cabinet

Who is the Canton Power Sub 12 S2 suited for?

Straight talk: the Sub 12 S2 is built for large, open living rooms and home cinema rooms up to around 50 square metres, where smaller subwoofers reach their limits. For a normal living room up to 25 square metres it's usually oversized and simply pricier than it needs to be – the 8-inch or 10-inch model is the better fit there. But if you want the level and depth for a large room, this is where you get both.

Our verdict

Anyone buying the Sub 12 S2 has usually already realised that their room needs more cone area than average – and that's exactly what it's built for. Our specialist team in Wädenswil is happy to check with you whether your room really justifies the largest tier before you buy more subwoofer than you'll end up needing.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Power Sub 12 S2 match my speakers?

As a rule, yes. With a crossover frequency adjustable from 50 to 200 Hz and both high-level and low-level inputs, it fits practically any stereo or home cinema system, whether bookshelf or floorstanding speakers are in front of it. Tell us what you have, and we'll tell you whether the combination works.

How large can the room be for the Power Sub 12 S2?

With its 308 mm chassis and 380 watts of music power, it's built for large, open living rooms and home cinema rooms up to around 50 square metres. For a normal living space up to 25 square metres it's usually oversized – the 8-inch or 10-inch model is the better and more affordable choice there.

Where's the best place to put the Power Sub 12 S2?

Thanks to the downfiring passive radiator, placement isn't critical, though proximity to a wall or a room corner will boost the bass further. The three-stage room adjustment compensates for much of that. Moving it a few centimetres often does more than any dial adjustment – or give us a call and we'll work through it together.

Power Sub 8 S2, 10 S2, or 12 S2 – what's the difference?

All three work on the same principle but differ in chassis size and music power: 219 mm and 280 watts for the 8-inch, 257 mm and 330 watts for the 10-inch, 308 mm and 380 watts for the 12-inch. The larger the room or the more level you want, the more the next size up pays off.

Why buy the Canton Power Sub 12 S2 from HD Zürisee?

Because a subwoofer only truly delivers its foundation with the right size and placement. Our specialist team knows the differences between 8, 10, and 12 inches from hands-on experience, not just from the data sheet, and technician Mauri will fine-tune the sub on-site for you on request. Call us or write to us in Wädenswil.

Goes well with

This pairs well with bookshelf speakers or floorstanding speakers to carry the front end, the matching subwoofer cable for the connection, and further home cinema speakers if you want to expand from stereo.
