The Canton Movie 200 is a 5.1 speaker set made up of four satellites, a centre, and an active subwoofer, delivering a complete home cinema foundation in compact form.

Four small boxes, a centre, and a subwoofer in the box – that's basically half the surround system done already. What's missing is an amplifier to drive the satellites; Canton has its matching Smart Amp 5.1 separately in its lineup, but you can also pair it with any AV receiver that has five speaker outputs.

Do I need an extra amplifier for the Movie 200?

Yes. The satellites and centre are passive; only the subwoofer has its own amplifier. For the remaining four channels you need an AV receiver or Canton's own Smart Amp 5.1, which additionally brings HDMI and streaming. Tell us what you already have and we'll tell you whether it fits.

Can I hang the satellites on the wall?

Yes, the matching wall brackets are included. Just as well you can place the satellites on a shelf or sideboard – the compact 9 × 12 × 11 centimetre design makes both possible, without them standing out much.

Is the Movie 200 enough for a large living room?

For small to medium rooms, yes. The subwoofer handles down to 33 Hz, but the compact satellites are designed more for near-field listening than for large, open floor plans. From around 25 square metres, it's worth talking about the larger Movie 400 – we're happy to work through that with you.

Does the Movie 200 work with my existing TV?
