bFly-Audio Talis Basic – Speaker Absorber Feet 4-Pack

The bFly-Audio Talis Basic are absorber feet that screw into the speaker's thread in place of spikes and decouple it from the floor.

Spikes are old school: they couple the speaker to the surface. On solid stone floors that's fine – on laminate or parquet they bring impact noise, microphonics, and undefined bass right into your living room. The Talis do the opposite: they decouple instead of coupling.

Why the Talis Basic?

The aluminum body takes the thread at the top and houses the damping structure: with the Basic, a disc plus a ring made from bFly's proven cork-rubber granulate. Sorbothane is deliberately absent here – that's reserved for the Talis Pro. Underneath sits a POM glider insert: it spreads out the vibrations and still lets you move the speaker without scratching the floor. Remove the threaded stud on top and you can also just set the Talis underneath – for speakers without any threaded mount at all.

What you hear

Deeper, better-controlled bass. Cleaner midrange. A soundstage that no longer feels glued to the floor. And above all: no impact noise traveling back from the speaker into the whole system. Once you've heard how a floorstanding speaker on a springy wood floor makes half the room join in, you know how much there is to gain here. Who is the Talis Basic for – and who is it not for?

Ideal for speakers, stands, racks, and subwoofers on wood, laminate, or springy flooring with an M6 to M12 thread mount, or for freestanding use. Size M carries up to 50 kg per set and is enough for most bookshelf speakers and lighter floorstanders; the generously sized L carries up to 400 kg per set and covers practically any device – including heavy floorstanders, racks, and subwoofers. Bottom line: the Basic M costs CHF 179.–, the Basic L CHF 269.– – exactly the same price as the equally well-built Talis Pro in the matching size, which delivers more technology for the same money thanks to its extra Sorbothane layer. If you deliberately want the simpler, more straightforward solution, the Basic serves you well in both sizes. If you're listening on solid concrete slab without resonance issues, you'll notice less of the effect anyway.

What's the difference between the Talis Basic and the Talis Pro?

The Basic dampens with a disc and a ring of cork-rubber granulate in the aluminum body. The Talis Pro adds a Sorbothane disc, separated from the cork-rubber ring by a separator film. Sorbothane is therefore found exclusively in the Pro, not in the Basic. The Pro therefore works more broadband, while the Basic remains the sturdy, straightforward solution – in M and L at the same price as the Talis Pro in the same size.

Which size do I need – M or L?

That's decided by the weight per set. Talis Basic M carries up to 50 kg per set (Ø 42 mm), Talis Basic L up to 400 kg per set (Ø 55 mm). For bookshelf speakers and lighter floorstanders, M is usually enough; heavy giants, racks, or subwoofers take L.

Which thread do I need, and does a different one cost extra?

Standard is M8, included in the price. If you need M6, M10, M12, or the fine thread for USM Haller furniture, choose it directly here on the product page – CHF 30 surcharge per set. If your speaker has no threaded mount at all, remove the threaded stud and just set the Talis underneath – that works just as well as screwing it in.

Can I still move the speakers with the Talis mounted?

Yes. There's a POM glider insert on the underside. It spreads out the vibrations and still lets you align the speaker to the millimeter without scratching parquet or laminate. That's noticeably more pleasant than wrestling a heavy speaker over spikes, especially when fine-tuning placement.
