AudioQuest Rocket 33 Speaker Cable

The AudioQuest Rocket 33 is a made-to-order speaker cable with solid-core conductors of Perfect-Surface Copper and Long-Grain Copper in a Double Star-Quad geometry, complemented by carbon-based noise dissipation. This is where the Rocket series stops being a mere connector and becomes a component of the system.

Why the Rocket 33?

Two things change fundamentally compared to the Rocket 22. First, the conductors are now solid: one wire per polarity instead of many strands, which eliminates strand interaction entirely. Second, two positive and two negative conductors sit in a Double Star-Quad arrangement, in which the magnetic fields largely cancel each other out. The insulation switches to foamed polyethylene with a high air content, and the negative conductors carry a carbon-loaded layer against RF interference.

What you get

As across the whole series, you choose length and configuration: Full-Range or Single-BiWire. Termination is with SureGrip 300 in banana or spade. The price is per pair; single runs for center-channel or subwoofer use are made on request.

Who is the Rocket 33 suited for – and who isn't it for?

Honestly: on an entry-level system, the Rocket 33 is overkill – that money is better spent on speakers there. From solid mid-range upward, though, it's the level at which a cable becomes genuinely audible within the system as a whole. At 14 AWG, it remains remarkably easy to route despite everything.

Frequently asked questions

What changes with solid conductors?

In a stranded cable, the signal constantly switches between individual strands, generating distortion. A solid wire doesn't have this problem. The result is a cleaner soundstage with tighter bass – in exchange, the cable is somewhat stiffer than the semi-solid Rockets.

What does Double Star-Quad stand for?

An arrangement of four conductors per run, with positive and negative diagonally opposite each other. The resulting magnetic fields largely cancel out, reducing inductance and susceptibility to interference. AudioQuest uses this geometry from the Rocket 33 upward; the smaller models use a twisted double spiral.

How easily can the cable be routed behind the rack?

With 14 AWG and foamed PE insulation, the Rocket 33 stays manageable, but it's stiffer than the Rocket 11 or 22. Allow some bend radius behind floorstanding speakers and the rack. In tight spaces, we'll tell you upfront which length makes sense.
