Audio Analogue AIRTECH Upgrade Kit for Donizetti

The Audio Analogue AIRTECH Upgrade Kit for the Donizetti is an accessory that the manufacturer lists in connection with the Donizetti Anniversary amplifier.

What exactly the kit contains and what it does for your unit, we clarify with the distributor before you order. The reason for this reticence is simple: Audio Analogue states that the Donizetti Anniversary can also be used in bridged mono operation – without naming any additional kit for that. The manufacturer explicitly specifies a separate connection kit for the smaller AA100DM. So we won't claim anything here that we can't back up.

Why this kit?

Honest answer: this can only be said seriously after consulting the distributor. A connection set, a component upgrade, or an equipment option would all be conceivable – none of these variants is publicly documented. If you want to know whether the kit is any use for your Donizetti, a phone call is by far the fastest route to an answer.

What you get

An accessory for the Donizetti Anniversary. We confirm scope of delivery, compatibility with your unit and the actual effect before you order. We'd much rather ask one question too many than send a package that ends up being no use to anyone.

Who is the kit for – and who isn't it for?

Straight talk: as long as the scope of delivery isn't confirmed, this kit isn't suited to a quick, casual order. It's aimed at owners of a Donizetti Anniversary who want to specifically expand their unit and are willing to give us a short call first. If you're just after more power, you should know: according to the manufacturer, the Donizetti already handles bridged mono operation out of the box.

Our verdict

An accessory we deliberately won't talk up. The manufacturer's documentation gives no kit function for the Donizetti, so we don't invent one either. As soon as the distributor confirms what's inside, we'll tell you straight – that's how we handle every product here in Wädenswil at HD Zürisee.

Frequently Asked Questions

What exactly does the AIRTECH Kit do for the Donizetti?

That's not publicly documented, and we don't guess. Neither Audio Analogue nor the trade currently describe the contents or effect of this kit. We clarify scope of delivery and function directly with the distributor before every order and pass the information on to you before you decide.

Do I need the kit for mono operation of the Donizetti?

According to the manufacturer, no. Audio Analogue states that the Donizetti Anniversary can also be operated in bridged mono configuration, and explicitly names no additional kit for that. The manufacturer specifies a separate connection kit for the smaller AA100DM; for the Donizetti, there's nothing comparable in the documentation.

What does mono operation actually achieve on the Donizetti?

Significantly more power per channel: instead of 250 watts at 8 ohms in stereo operation, bridged gives you around 1000 watts at 8 ohms. For that you need two Donizetti units, one per channel. Whether your room and your speakers would ever push that far, we'll tell you honestly – often the answer is no.

Does the kit fit every Donizetti Anniversary?

That depends on the model revision and can't be answered in general terms, because the Anniversary series has been updated over the years. Give us your amplifier's serial number when you enquire, and we'll have the distributor check compatibility directly before anything gets ordered.
