Why the Berlin Sub 10?

The down-firing driver radiates downward into the room, and the sealed MDF cabinet keeps the bass reflex tuning clean between 14 and 250 Hz. Crossover frequency, a 3-band notch EQ and a subsonic filter at 10 Hz can be set directly on the unit, so the sub adapts to the room and main speakers instead of overpowering them. Do I need an amplifier with a sub-out for the Berlin Sub 10?

Ideally yes — via the line-level input at the sub output of your amplifier or preamp. If there's no dedicated sub-out, the Sub 10 can also be connected in parallel with the main speakers; we'll show you during a consultation which route suits your setup.

How do I set the crossover frequency and level correctly?

On the unit, you adjust the crossover frequency steplessly between 30 and 250 Hz. As a rule of thumb: set it just above the lower cutoff frequency of your main speakers, then fine-tune by ear. The 3-band notch EQ additionally corrects room-related bass peaks.
