The HD ONE is a hand-assembled high-end speaker cable for the classic single-wire connection – one cable per speaker, to one pair of terminals. It's built at HD Zürisee in Wädenswil, metre by metre, to the length you order.

Why the HD ONE?

A speaker cable doesn't make your sound better. One that's too thin makes it worse – that's exactly where the HD ONE comes in. With 2 × 4 mm² of high-purity, oxygen-free copper, resistance stays low, so your amplifier keeps control over the bass cones. The gold-plated banana plugs with a spread function clamp firmly into the socket instead of sitting loosely in it – it's at the transition to the terminal that many systems give away their reserves.

On the outside, high-density polyethylene sits under a fabric sleeve that keeps the cable's shape and makes it insensitive to vacuum cleaners and chair legs. Who is the HD ONE for?

For quality systems whose speakers have one pair of terminals, or whose bridges stay in place. Straight talk: on an entry-level chain you won't unlock its potential – there, your money is better invested in better speakers. If you really want to run the treble and bass terminals separately, you need the bi-wire version.

What's the difference between single-wire and bi-wire?

Single-wire is the classic connection: one cable per speaker, to one pair of terminals. Bi-wire separates the treble and bass branches via two conductor pairs from the same amplifier channel. If your speaker only has one pair of terminals, or the bridges stay in place, single-wire is the right choice – and that's exactly what this version is built for.

What length should I choose?

Measure the actual path from the amplifier to the speaker, including any bends behind the rack, and round up to the next half metre. Too short is annoying; half a metre of slack never hurts. Pairs are available from 2 × 0.5 m to 2 × 5.0 m in 0.5 m steps.

Does a better speaker cable improve the sound?

No, no cable can make the sound better. A conductor that's too thin or poorly contacted, however, audibly costs you control in the bass. The HD ONE keeps resistance low at 2 × 4 mm² and the connection at the terminal clean. It simply doesn't take anything away.

Do I still need to strip or solder anything on the HD ONE?

No. The pair arrives fully assembled with gold-plated banana plugs that clamp themselves into the socket thanks to the spread function. You plug it in and you're done. If your terminals only accept spade connectors, let us know before ordering – then we'll clarify what's feasible in advance.
