The Audio Analogue Bellini Anniversary is a purely analogue line preamplifier that sits as the control centre between your sources and the power amp, doing as little as possible to the signal along the way. In silver, the Anniversary design language stands out more clearly: a slim aluminium front, a centred rotary control, no orgy of labelling. You can tell from looking at the unit that the development effort went behind the looks, not into them.
Why the Bellini Anniversary?
Because a preamp has to get exactly two things right: be quiet and add nothing. The Bellini runs without global negative feedback and with a bandwidth up to 200 kHz; output noise A-weighted sits at roughly 9 µV unbalanced and 14 µV balanced. In practice that means a signal-to-noise ratio of about 107 and 103 dB respectively. Add to that five inputs and four outputs, so the chain can grow without a new device becoming necessary right away.
What you hear
Quiet — and everything contained within that quiet. Because the Bellini contributes hardly any noise of its own, faint details that were previously buried in the noise floor move forward: the decay of a snare, the space behind the singer, the hesitation before an entrance. The tonal colours stay untouched throughout. Anyone expecting a preamp to audibly add something will be disappointed — in the best sense.
Who is the Bellini Anniversary for?
Plainly put: for a compact system in a side room it's the wrong route, and without a power amp it stays silent — that's not a shortcoming, it's the concept. Network functions, a converter or a phono section are missing too, deliberately. Its home is the separate high-end chain: where cabling is balanced, where power amps get added later, and where someone is willing to pay for inconspicuousness.
Our verdict
The Bellini Anniversary does the opposite of attracting attention, and it's outstanding at that. It's the investment in the part of the chain you see the least and keep the longest. Frequently asked questions
What does a preamplifier actually do?
It selects between your sources, controls the volume, and passes the signal on to the power amp at a defined level. The actual power amplification happens afterwards. The Bellini Anniversary handles this with 5 dB gain unbalanced and 11 dB balanced — deliberately little, but very clean.
Which power amp suits the Bellini Anniversary?
The intended match is the Donizetti Anniversary: same range, same philosophy, connectable in balanced mode. In principle, any power amp whose input sensitivity matches the Bellini's levels will suit it. Tell us your preferred model or your existing power amp, and we'll check the combination against the manufacturer's data.
Can I run an active subwoofer alongside it?
Yes. The Bellini has two RCA and two XLR output pairs, so you can feed an active subwoofer or a second power amp in parallel with the main power amp. You then set the crossover frequency on the subwoofer. We'll discuss beforehand how this runs most cleanly in your room.
How much power does the Bellini Anniversary draw in standby?
Audio Analogue states standby consumption as 0.5 W at 230 V; the instruction manual names 0.7 W at this point. Either way, it stays well below what a power supply draws in continuous operation. Via the trigger cable, the unit can be switched together with the power amp.
Why buy the Bellini Anniversary from HD Zürisee?
Because we tell you beforehand what a separate chain actually brings — and when it isn't worth it. As an authorised dealer we handle the warranty correctly, deliver and install on-site, and with Mauri there's our own technician standing behind it. Call us, write on WhatsApp, or email us.
