The Audio Analogue Pure AA100DM is an analogue stereo power amplifier in dual-mono construction, delivering 100 W into 8 Ω and bridgeable to a monoblock at 400 W. It runs in Class AB and dispenses entirely with global negative feedback.

The satin black finish disappears into the rack; the 15.5 kg doesn't. Inside sits a 760 VA transformer, not some token power supply. Built in Italy, measured in watts.

Why the Pure AA100DM?

The "DM" stands for Dual Mono. Both channels run on largely separate supplies and separate amplification, three pairs of output transistors per side. That yields 100 W at 8 Ω, 200 W at 4 Ω and 320 W at 2 Ω — figures that still hold up when your speakers get rude in the bass. Output impedance is 0.25 Ω, signal-to-noise ratio over 110 dB, and the internal wiring is solid 7N-OCC copper.

What you hear

Bass control, above all. An amplifier of this type keeps the woofer short instead of letting it ring on, and the quiet background leaves room for faint details that would otherwise get lost. Because there's no global negative feedback in play, the AA100DM sounds more open and unvarnished than polished. It doesn't gloss over anything that isn't in the recording — you have to like that, and plenty of people do exactly that.

Who is the Pure AA100DM for?

For anyone who deliberately works with a separate preamp and power amp and wants to keep the door open to two bridged monoblocks. Plainly put: without a preamp, nothing plays here at all, because volume control and source selection are deliberately absent. If you want everything in one chassis, the Pure AACento is the better fit, and if you're after streaming or digital inputs, you'll need a dedicated source in front of it anyway.

Our verdict

A thoroughly solid power amp with a genuine dual-mono foundation and a clear upgrade path toward monoblock operation. No showpiece for the living room, but a workhorse with good manners. Which preamp and which speakers really suit it is something we'd rather sort out in conversation: HD Zürisee in Wädenswil, 044 680 22 00, WhatsApp 076 534 22 00 (text only, no calls) or shop@hdzuerisee.ch.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a preamp for the AA100DM?

Yes. The AA100DM is a pure power amplifier with no volume control and no source selection. You need a preamp or a device with a preamp output ahead of it. Connection is either unbalanced via RCA or balanced via XLR. Which preamp suits your chain is something we'll work out together with you.

What does the dual-mono construction give you?

Both channels have largely separate power supply and amplification. That reduces crosstalk between left and right and stabilises the spatial image. Audibly, that shows up as a clearly layered soundstage that doesn't collapse even at high levels. On top of that comes the absence of global negative feedback.

Can I bridge the AA100DM to mono later?

Yes. Bridged, it delivers 400 W at 8 Ω and 700 W at 4 Ω. For that you need one unit per channel and the matching link kit. That's a clean upgrade path if your speakers later demand more current than a stereo power amp can provide.

How much space and airflow does the power amp need?

It measures 445 × 120 × 390 mm and weighs 15.5 kg, so the rack shelf should be sturdy. Class AB power amps give off heat: leave a few centimetres clear above and behind, and don't place anything directly on top. In standby it draws under 1 watt.

Why buy the Pure AA100DM from HD Zürisee?

Because a power amp is only as good as the chain around it, and that's exactly where our experience lies. We match preamp, power amp and speakers to each other, deliver and install at your home, and our own technician stays your point of contact even after the purchase.
