The WiiM Amp is a streaming integrated amplifier that combines network player, DAC and power amp in a housing the size of a book cover. All you need are two speakers - and you have a complete system that would have cost three times as much five years ago.
Why the WiiM Amp?
Because it radically shortens the chain. Instead of a streamer, preamp, power amp and three cable tangles, there's one device on the shelf that receives everything that matters today over Wi-Fi or a network cable: AirPlay 2, Chromecast, Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Amazon Music Cast, DLNA and Roon Ready. The TV joins in via HDMI ARC, the turntable via the line input - provided it has a phono preamp.
The WiiM Home app isn't an afterthought here, but the actual reason the device works so well: fast, stable, and with an equalizer you understand even without a degree in audio engineering.
What you hear
The TI TPA3255 amplifier delivers 60 W at 8 ohms and 120 W at 4 ohms per channel - enough for most bookshelf speakers and many floorstanders in normal living rooms. The sound is neutral and controlled, without the typical Class-D fatigue in the treble, and the amplifier stays cool and quiet throughout: no fans, no hum, no waiting for it to warm up.
For more depth there's a subwoofer output with an adjustable crossover frequency between 30 and 250 Hz. That lets you cleanly extend a small compact system rather than pushing bookshelf speakers beyond their limits.
Who is the WiiM Amp for?
For anyone who wants a complete, uncomplicated system: living room, office, bedroom, holiday flat. And for anyone who still has good passive speakers in the basement and wants to give them a second life.
Straight talk: the WiiM Amp is no powerhouse. With very large or inefficient floorstanding speakers in a 40-square-metre room, it reaches its limits - that's what the WiiM Amp Ultra with double the power is for. It also has no headphone output and no phono input; your turntable still needs its own preamp. And the trade press agrees that it plays matter-of-fact rather than thrilling - if you value emotion over neutrality, talk to us beforehand.
Our verdict
The WiiM Amp is the reason a "good system" no longer has to mean an "expensive system". It does little wrong, stays pleasantly unfussy in everyday use, and leaves you budget for what matters most: the speakers. We work through exactly this calculation regularly with customers at HD Zürisee in Wädenswil - and surprisingly often it comes out in the WiiM's favour.

Frequently asked questions
Which speakers suit the WiiM Amp?
Passive bookshelf and smaller floorstanding speakers with 4 to 8 ohms are a good match. In normal living rooms up to around 30 square metres, the 120 W at 4 ohms is more than enough. For large rooms or inefficient speakers, the WiiM Amp Ultra is the better choice - we're happy to check that against your model.
Can I connect my TV to the WiiM Amp?
Yes, via HDMI ARC. The TV sends the sound to the amplifier over a single cable, and the TV remote controls the volume too. Alternatively, the optical input works. That way the WiiM Amp quietly replaces the soundbar in your living room.
Do I need an additional phono preamp for my turntable?
Yes. The WiiM Amp has a normal line input, but no phono input. Your turntable therefore needs either a built-in preamp or an external phono stage in between. We stock suitable models starting from a small budget and can tell you which one suits your cartridge.
Can I connect headphones to the WiiM Amp?
No, there's no headphone output. If you regularly listen through headphones, you'll need a separate headphone amplifier - or combine it with a WiiM Ultra as a source, which brings a genuine headphone output on the front.
Why buy the WiiM Amp at HD Zürisee?
Because the amplifier is only half the answer. The more interesting question is which speakers will be happy with it in your room - and that's where a specialist shop with decades of experience helps more than any top-ten list. Plus setup, delivery and our own technician if things do get stuck.
Goes well with
You'll find the matching speakers among the bookshelf speakers and floorstanding speakers, the matching stands at the speaker stands. For more depth: subwoofers. Wired up with speaker cables, and if you want to connect a turntable, you'll need a phono preamp. Everything from WiiM: WiiM overview.
