The Audio Analogue ABsolute PA Mono is a mono power amplifier from the ABsolute reference line with 500 watts at 8 ohms in Class AB, where each channel gets its own chassis. You get a pair – two separate amplifiers, left and right.
In black, the two blocks look almost understated, which is quite something given they weigh 50 kilograms each. The rest follows a very old idea: if you don't want compromises between the channels, then don't share anything between them.
Why the ABsolute PA Mono?
Because a stereo amplifier inevitably shares things – power supply, chassis, ground. Two mono blocks don't: each side with its own power supply, its own signal path, and no crosstalk. The bridged amplifier runs on twelve transistor pairs per block, every stage is fully symmetrical, and a global feedback loop is deliberately absent. Designed under the AIRTECH signature and hand-built in Italy.
What you'll hear
First, the background – or rather, its absence. 118 dB signal-to-noise ratio and under 0.1 percent distortion across the entire power range mean music emerges from nothing rather than from a carpet of noise. Add to that a composure that never sounds loud: with 1400 watts at 2 ohms, the point where these amplifiers would break a sweat is, for most living rooms, purely theoretical.
Who is the ABsolute PA Mono for?
For large, demanding speakers and for listeners who really want to think the drive through to the end. Straight talk: the input is exclusively balanced – a preamplifier with an XLR output is mandatory, RCA simply doesn't work. Two spots for 50 kilograms each are mandatory. If you're after a compact solution, you're better off with the PA 3.0 stereo amplifier or the ABsolute 3.0 integrated amplifier.
Our verdict
This is as far as it goes: two blocks, 500 watts at 8 ohms, no detail left to chance. The trade press recently placed the combination of PA Mono and ABsolute preamplifier like this – "ABsolute PA MONO amps and ABsolute Reference line stage are versatile, boldly stepping beyond common and the usual audiophile comfort zone" (Matej Isak, Mono & Stereo, April 2026). Frequently Asked Questions
Does this listing include two amplifiers?
Yes. You receive a complete pair, i.e. two separate mono amplifiers for the left and right channels. A mono amplifier always drives only one side – stereo requires two, and exactly two are supplied.
Why two mono blocks instead of one stereo amplifier?
Because two separate chassis don't need to share anything. Each channel has its own power supply and its own signal path, and crosstalk between left and right is eliminated by design. In practice, this shows up mainly as a more stable soundstage at high levels.
Which preamplifier do I need for the PA Mono?
One with a balanced XLR output. The PA Mono has exactly one XLR input with 44 kiloohms and no RCA connection. Within the line, the ABsolute Preamplifier is the intended partner, but any other high-quality preamplifier with an XLR output works just as well.
How much power and space do the two amplifiers need?
Plan for two stable spots with a footprint of 483 by 445 millimetres each and 50 kilograms each. Both blocks need to be well ventilated and should be plugged into properly protected outlets. We're happy to look at your situation together beforehand.
Why buy the ABsolute PA Mono in Black from HD Zürisee?
Because with a project like this, we deliver more than two boxes: we clarify preamplifier, wiring, placement and speaker match with you beforehand. We're an authorized Audio Analogue dealer, service and installation are handled by our own technician – and we're there to help carry, too.
