The Argon Audio Fenris A4 is an active compact speaker that carries amplifiers, digital-to-analogue converter and all connections for TV, turntable and Bluetooth in its own cabinet. The white finish is the lightest of the three: pale wall, pale shelf – and the speaker nearly disappears until the first note plays.

Why the Fenris A4?

The A4 splits the work: 50 watts Class D to the 4-inch woofer/midrange, 25 watts to the 0.75-inch dome, separated by a digital crossover in the DSP. That sounds like a spec sheet, but it has an audible effect – bass stays taut instead of booming, and voices sit clearly centred. The fact that the pair switches itself on and off and handles input selection automatically is worth more in everyday use than it sounds on paper.

What you get

The A4 accepts practically every source in the household: the TV via HDMI ARC, digital devices via the optical input, analogue gear via RCA, and the turntable directly via phono MM. Bluetooth 5.0 for guests and quick playback. A subwoofer can join later via the pre-out. And no – a streaming subscription is not a requirement for music to play here.

Who is the Fenris A4 in White suited to – and who isn't it for?

Plainly put: if you want to fill large rooms or feel deep bass in your gut, go straight for the A5 or plan for a subwoofer. There's no network streaming over WiFi here – that's what the Forte WiFi series is for. How big is the difference between the Fenris A4 and A5?

The A5 has a 5.25-inch woofer/midrange instead of 4 inches, a larger cabinet, and reaches down to 47 instead of 52 hertz. Amplification is identical on both. In short: the A5 for the living room, the A4 for smaller rooms, desks and side rooms.

Where's the best place to put the Fenris A4?

Ideally at ear height, angled slightly toward the listening position, with a bit of distance from the back wall. Placed directly against the wall or in a closed shelf compartment, the bass gets punchier but also less precise. On furniture, the included isolation feet help against vibrations.

Can I run the Fenris A4 from a computer?

Yes. Via an optical output or a jack-to-RCA connection you can connect a computer without any trouble. The A4 has no USB audio input – the USB port serves solely as a 5-volt charging port, for a streaming stick or your phone, for instance.
