bFly-Audio Absorber Base – for Thorens & Linn

The bFly-Audio Absorber Base is a custom-built decoupling base for Thorens and Linn turntables that specifically calms the often unstable original plinth of these decks.

Instead of a universal base, bFly-audio has developed its own precisely fitted construction for each model here – the turntable is simply placed into the base, and on some models you only need to remove the original feet.

Why the Absorber Base?

On top sit five elaborately made absorber elements following a 2-level principle: the deck itself stands on four absorbers, while a fifth sits centrally and specifically calms the often unstable original base plate. Especially on the 300 series Thorens models with their sheet-metal chassis pan, the base can fully play out its potential this way. Optional height-adjustable PRO feet, with an additional seal on the underside, add a further absorber level and more horizontal stability.

Which model fits my turntable?

xPLTH3 fits the Thorens 300 series models such as TD320, 321, 318 and 316, xPLTH16 fits the 160 and 140 series models such as TD160, 166, 165, 145 and 146. For the Linn LP12 and Majik you take the LBase. If you're unsure, just tell us your exact model.

Do I need to modify anything on the turntable for installation?

On most models you simply place the deck into the base; on some you only need to remove the original feet beforehand. No modification to the chassis or tonearm is needed.

Are the optional PRO feet worth it?

If you want even more stability and detail resolution on top of the 2-level absorption, yes: the PRO feet add an extra seal and a further absorber level. For the entry point, the basic version is entirely sufficient.

Does the Absorber Base work with turntables other than Thorens or Linn?

No, the base is specifically built for the named Thorens and Linn models and, by design, doesn't fit other decks. For other brands, we're happy to advise you on suitable alternatives from our range.
