The Vincent SA-T7 MK is the revised reference tube preamp from Vincent's tubeLine. It amplifies the line signal purely through tubes – thanks to the patent-pending BestPentode circuit by Dipl.-Ing. Frank Blöhbaum – and adds a built-in D/A converter with optical, coaxial and Bluetooth input to the analogue signal path. Compared with the original SA-T7, the modernised housing and the Bluetooth input were added.
Why the SA-T7 MK?
Because it exploits the potential of the tube more thoroughly than classic circuits with ECC tubes. The BestPentode stage uses precious variable-mu pentodes from old stock (NOS) and delivers high gain with the lowest possible noise – the current-distribution noise typical of pentodes is simply not an issue here. A specially developed Vimala module couples the stage with exceptionally low noise. The result is a tube sound with warmth and body, but without the usual compromises in speed and cleanliness.
What you get
- Pure tube amplification via the BestPentode circuit with NOS variable-mu pentodes
- Built-in D/A converter with optical and coaxial input (up to 24-bit/192 kHz)
- Bluetooth 5.0 for wireless streaming from your smartphone or tablet
- Six analogue RCA inputs for all your sources
- Switchable precision tone control for treble and bass
- Two selectable output impedances (50 and 600 ohms), even for demanding cables
- Bullseye window with a view of the glowing tubes
- Remote control included
Who is the SA-T7 MK suited for?
For anyone who wants genuine tube sound as the heart of their system without giving up digital sources or streaming. Ideal as the central switching point between turntable, CD player, streamer and power amp. Honestly: if you need a phono stage or a headphone output built into the unit, you'll have to add these externally – the SA-T7 MK is designed as a line preamp. And if you're after the absolute maximum, you'll find it in the Diamond edition with Telefunken tubes.
Our verdict
The SA-T7 MK is rightly regarded as one of the best tube preamps in its price class: powerful sound, cleanly built and, thanks to BestPentode technology, remarkably low noise. The built-in DAC is no token gesture – it sounds genuinely good in its own right. Paired with a Vincent power amp like the SP-332, this becomes a fully grown tube chain. Frequently asked questions
Is the SA-T7 MK a pure tube preamp?
Yes. Signal amplification is handled exclusively by tubes in the BestPentode circuit – unlike hybrid units, there's no transistor amplification stage in the signal path. The built-in DAC only converts digital sources before the signal runs into the tube stage.
What is the BestPentode circuit?
A tube circuit technique developed by Dipl.-Ing. Frank Blöhbaum that practically eliminates the current-distribution noise typical of pentodes. It delivers higher gain with lower noise than comparable triodes – achieved using precious NOS variable-mu pentodes.
Can I stream music via Bluetooth?
Yes. The SA-T7 MK has a Bluetooth 5.0 input – music from your smartphone, tablet or laptop runs wirelessly through the internal DAC and is refined by the tube stage. An optical and a coaxial digital input are also available.
How does the MK differ from the Diamond edition?
The SA-T7 Diamond is the MK's limited special edition. The difference lies in the tube set: the Diamond runs on original NOS tubes from Telefunken, which according to Vincent gives it even more warmth and clarity. Otherwise the two are largely identical.
Why buy the SA-T7 MK from HD Zürisee?
Because we advise you on the right combination of power amp, speakers and cabling before you commit. As a Vincent specialist dealer, we take care of setup and service and are personally there for you in Wädenswil on Lake Zürich even after your purchase.
Goes well with
- Power amps – the right power, for example the Vincent SP-332
- Speakers – from compact to floorstanding
- Turntables – for the analogue source
- Cables – RCA in the right length
