The Vincent PF-2 is a mains filter with six filtered outlets that keeps interference out of the power supply and feeds your hi-fi components with clean power through separate connection groups for digital and analogue.

Sounds unspectacular? It is – and that's exactly the point. A mains filter doesn't make noise, it removes it. Fridges, LED dimmers, Wi-Fi routers and chargers are constantly dumping high-frequency junk back into the mains, and your sensitive preamp would otherwise pick it all up unfiltered.

Why the PF-2?

Because clean power supply is the foundation everything else builds on – and because you only buy it once. The PF-2 splits six outlets into two groups: two for digital sources such as CD players or streamers, four for analogue components and amplifiers. That way the digital noise source isn't sharing the same outlet as your analogue preamp.

An automatic overload protection secures the whole thing. No voodoo, no glowing promises – a solidly built metal housing that does its job without drawing attention.

What you get

  • Six filtered outlets: enough for a complete stereo system including sources.
  • Digital/analogue separated: 2 outlets for digital sources (max. 300 W), 4 for analogue and amplifiers (max. 1900 W).
  • 2200 W total output: headroom even for power-hungry amplifiers.
  • Automatic overload protection: protects the filter and connected devices.
  • Solid metal housing: low-resonance, unobtrusive, built to last.

Who is the PF-2 for?

For anyone who has a good system and wants to give it a proper power foundation without investing straight away in a four-figure power conditioner. If you're running several devices off a cheap power strip, the PF-2 is the most sensible first step.

Honestly: don't expect miracles – a mains filter replaces neither amplifier nor speakers and won't turn a mediocre chain into a good one. It tidies up where things were previously unsettled. If your transformer hums mechanically, that's often DC voltage in the mains – only the bigger sibling, the PF-3 with DC blocker, helps against that.

Our verdict

The PF-2 is an honest, well-built entry point into clean power supply – six outlets, sensibly divided, with overload protection, without an esoteric price premium. For most systems, exactly the right dose.

Frequently asked questions

What does a mains filter like the PF-2 do for the sound?
It keeps high-frequency interference from the mains away from your devices. This usually shows up as a quieter background and more stable playback, especially with sensitive sources and preamps. A filter improves the conditions, not the music signal itself.

Why are the outlets separated into digital and analogue?
Digital devices such as streamers or CD players generate high-frequency noise themselves. Through separate connection groups – two for digital, four for analogue – you keep this noise away from the sensitive analogue components. This way the devices interfere with each other less.

Can I connect my power amplifier to the PF-2?
Yes. The four analogue outlets are rated for up to 1900 W, and that's where you connect the power amplifier. In total the PF-2 handles 2200 W. Only with very large Class-A monsters is it worth checking the total load – if in doubt, we're happy to advise you briefly.

Does the PF-2 also eliminate transformer hum?
Mechanical transformer hum usually comes from DC components in the mains. A DC blocker helps against that – the PF-2 doesn't have one, but the bigger PF-3 does. For high-frequency interference and clean distribution, though, the PF-2 is the right choice.

Why buy the PF-2 at HD Zürisee?
Because from experience we know which system really benefits from which power solution – and which doesn't. We help you distribute your devices sensibly, tell you honestly whether the PF-2 or PF-3 fits, and are personally there for you in Wädenswil on Lake Zurich.
