The Technics SC-CX700 is a fully active streaming speaker pair with a coaxial driver that combines a network player, power amps and bookshelf speakers in two housings – a complete stereo system in speaker form.

Each cabinet has its own coaxial driver (a 15 cm woofer with a centrally mounted 1.9 cm ring tweeter) – delivering a pinpoint, phase-correct image, the kind usually associated with studio monitors. It's driven bi-amped: 60 watts for the bass, 40 watts for the treble per side, fully digital via its own JENO Engine each. Add Space Tune room correction, MBDC distortion reduction, and a streamer that speaks everything from AirPlay 2 through Qobuz and TIDAL to Roon. The only cable needed between the cabinets is – optionally – the network.

A surprisingly large, cleanly focused soundstage from two compact cabinets. The coaxial driver keeps voices centred and precise, and the digital bi-amping section stays in control even at higher levels. Via the phono MM socket you play your turntable directly, HDMI ARC turns the pair into a better TV voice, and Space Tune adapts everything to your room. The finishing touch: instead of veneer or piano lacquer, the SC-CX700 wears a Dinamica microfibre finish – available in black, grey and terracotta.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an amplifier for the SC-CX700?
No. The power amps are built into both cabinets (bi-amping, 100 W per side). You just need power for each cabinet and your sources – streaming, turntable or TV. A separate amplifier is completely unnecessary.

Can I connect a turntable and a TV?
Yes. The Primary cabinet has an MM phono stage for the turntable, HDMI ARC for the TV, plus AUX, optical and USB-C. That means the SC-CX700 covers vinyl, TV and digital sources without any extra devices.

Do the two speakers need to be wired together?
Either way. The two cabinets connect wirelessly or via the included 3 m link cable (then up to 24 bit / 192 kHz). Each cabinet needs power separately – so plan for two power sockets.

Does the SC-CX700 work without a streaming subscription?
Yes. Vinyl via the phono stage, TV sound via HDMI ARC, internet radio and local network files all work with no subscription at all. Services like Qobuz or TIDAL are an option – the SC-CX700 is a pleasure even without them.
