The NAD CS1 is a network streamer (endpoint) that adds modern music streaming to any existing system, amplifier or active speaker.

A beautiful system without streaming is like a sports car without an ignition key - the CS1 is the missing key. Small, unobtrusive, ready to go instantly.

Why the CS1?

Because it lets you stream without having to learn a new app. It supports Apple AirPlay 2, Google Chromecast, Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect, DLNA and is Roon Ready - you choose the music in the apps you already use anyway. Plus Bluetooth 5.0. A differential Texas Instruments DAC converts up to 24-bit / 192 kHz and decodes MQA.

What you hear / get

Clean, natural streaming into a system that was previously offline. On the back are analog RCA outputs for an amplifier or active speakers, plus coaxial and optical digital outputs for an external DAC or receiver. It connects to your network via dual-band Wi-Fi or LAN. Up front: one button, one LED - that's all it needs.

Who is the CS1 suited for? (and who isn't it for)

Ideal if you have a good system, an amplifier or active speakers and want to add streaming affordably. Plain talk: the CS1 doesn't use BluOS - so it can't be combined with other NAD/Bluesound BluOS devices into a multi-room system, and it has no analog or HDMI inputs. If you need that, take a look at the Bluesound Node. If you just want clean, simple streaming, this is exactly right.

Our verdict

The simplest and most affordable way to teach an existing system proper streaming. Little effort, lots of benefit - and sonically well above phone Bluetooth.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a special app for the NAD CS1?
No. You stream directly from the apps you already use - such as Spotify, Tidal, Apple Music (via AirPlay 2) or Roon. The CS1 shows up as a playback target, you select it and off you go. No extra manufacturer app needed.

What's the difference to the Bluesound Node?
The Node is more comprehensive: BluOS multi-room, analog and HDMI eARC input, subwoofer output and control buttons. The CS1 is the slim, more affordable streamer without these extras - ideal if you just want to bring streaming into your system.

What resolution does the CS1 play?
The CS1 handles high-resolution audio up to 24-bit / 192 kHz and decodes MQA. Over Wi-Fi or LAN it sounds noticeably better than over Bluetooth - though the latter is handy for quick access.

Why buy the NAD CS1 at HD Zürisee?
Because we tell you whether the CS1 fits your system - or whether a BluOS device is the better route. We'll set it up for you on request and integrate it cleanly into your network. Personal advice in Wädenswil on Lake Zurich.
