The Atoll ST300 Signature is a network streamer with its own analog preamp stage, able to send music from the network, from USB, and from digital sources directly to a power amplifier.

That makes it more than just a source component — it's the control centre of a lean system: streamer, DAC, and preamplifier in one chassis, and one that looks like an amplifier on the inside, not a network device.

Why the ST300 Signature?

Atoll builds streamers the way it builds amplifiers: power supply first. Three separate transformers feed the analog section, the digital section, and the control logic, backed by 69,000 µF of smoothing capacitance — a figure some integrated amplifiers can't match. Conversion is handled by two Burr-Brown PCM1792 chips, one per channel, true dual-mono all the way to the output jacks. Volume isn't handled digitally but in the analog domain via switched resistors — and can be bypassed entirely when an integrated amplifier sits downstream.

What you'll hear

Quiet. The ST300 Signature doesn't sound like a network device, it sounds like a source: a black background, cleanly drawn edges, bass that stands still instead of wobbling. Through the balanced XLR output you extract the last bit of quietness, especially over longer cable runs. Everything is controlled via a 5-inch colour display and the ATOLL Signature 2 app — Qobuz, Tidal Connect, Spotify, Deezer, internet radio, AirPlay 2, and Roon included.

Who is the ST300 Signature for?

For anyone who wants to boil their system down to two boxes: streamer plus power amp, done. And for Roon users after a certified renderer. Plain talk: it won't accept a turntable, there's no phono input, and option cards aren't provided for. If you only listen to Bluetooth from your phone, this is far more device than you need. And if you listen through headphones for hours every day, know that the headphone and line outputs share a single volume control.

Our verdict

The ST300 Signature is the most sensible way to bring a high-quality digital source and a preamp together in one chassis — without either function becoming an afterthought. On 21 January 2023, LowBeats awarded it an overall verdict of "outstanding" (4.5 out of 5) and wrote: "Anyone looking for a full-size streaming preamplifier with the highest sonic ability and remarkably uncomplicated operation can hardly avoid a date with the Atoll ST 300 Signature." Frequently asked questions

Does the Atoll ST300 Signature need a preamplifier?
No. The ST300 Signature has its own analog volume control and can drive a power amplifier directly. If you'd rather run it into an integrated amplifier, switch the output to a fixed level via bypass — the amplifier then handles the volume.

Is the Atoll ST300 Signature Roon Ready?
Yes, the ST300 Signature is officially Roon Ready certified. It also offers AirPlay 2, Tidal Connect, Spotify, Qobuz, Deezer, HighResAudio, internet radio, and UPnP/DLNA. It's controlled via the ATOLL Signature 2 app or the included remote control.

Can I connect headphones to the ST300 Signature?
Yes, there's a 3.5 mm jack on the front. Good to know: headphones and the line output share the same volume control. For regular, serious headphone listening, a dedicated headphone amplifier is the better solution.

Do I need a streaming subscription for the ST300 Signature?
No. Internet radio, music from USB sticks, and files from your home network all work without a subscription. The digital inputs also accept a TV, CD transport, or computer. A Qobuz or Tidal subscription expands what's possible, but it isn't a requirement.

Why buy the Atoll ST300 Signature at HD Zürisee?
Because a streamer lives or dies in everyday use by its setup and network. We set up your ST300 Signature, integrate it cleanly into your home network, and show you how to organise your library on it. Our own technician handles installation and service.

Pairs well with

Right behind it fits a power amplifier such as the Atoll AM300 Evolution, or alternatively an integrated amplifier with bypass. Add the right floorstanding speakers and the correct cables — wired balanced, it plays at its cleanest.
