Yes, the openings are large enough for most standard cables. Even a larger cross-section up to 4 mm² can be routed through without trouble, with a bit of patience.

Very stable. The spikes let the stand dig through the pile and find firm footing directly on the surface beneath – noticeably more secure than a flat base plate alone.

Are the glass plates fragile?
No, it's thermally toughened safety glass: very sturdy and shatter-resistant. Should it ever break under massive force, it crumbles into small, blunt pieces instead of sharp shards.
