The Sonox X55 is a slim, versatile 2-way sound column that works close to a wall, on a low sideboard, or as a centre-channel speaker in a home cinema setup.

Why the Sonox X55?

An 18mm ROWEN fabric dome, a 13 cm woofer/midrange driver and a separate subwoofer produce a surprisingly wide soundstage with clear voices and powerful bass for this format. The sealed Acoustic Suspension enclosure works without a bass-reflex port – so placement is uncomplicated: directly against the wall, in a corner, or in front of a window front, without the sound suffering. With the included stand, it sits neatly on a low sideboard – and in a home cinema it cuts an equally good figure as a centre-channel speaker.

Clean, well-organised sound with natural timbre and bass down to 45 Hz that's surprising for such a slim format. Whether as a stereo pair for music or as a centre channel for intelligible movie dialogue, the X55 stays clean and unobtrusive. The light grey blends discreetly into modern living rooms.

Who is the Sonox X55 for?

For anyone with limited space, for placement close to a wall, and for home cinema setups that need a slim centre channel. Handy detail: you buy it individually – one unit as a centre channel, or two for a stereo pair. Straight talk: the X55 is passive and needs an amplifier or AV receiver. It doesn't replace the deep bass of a large floorstanding column – but it's considerably more flexible.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an amplifier for the Sonox X55?
Yes. The X55 is passive and needs an integrated amplifier, streaming amplifier, or AV receiver. As a front stereo speaker it runs on any typical amplifier; as a centre channel, on the centre channel of your AV receiver. We're happy to work out the right solution with you.

Can I use the X55 as a centre-channel speaker?
Yes, that's exactly what it's designed for too. Its slim format and good speech intelligibility make it a practical centre channel for home cinema – as long as your other speakers match it sonically.
