The Cabasse The Pearl Akoya with Stand is an active streaming compact speaker bundled with the matching, 70-centimetre-tall Cabasse floor stand in matte black.

That puts the sphere exactly where it belongs sonically: standing freely in the room at listening height instead of wedged between book spines.

Why the Akoya with stand?

The speaker stays the same as on a shelf: three ways, 1050 watts RMS, a coaxial BCI driver and a 17 cm HELD woofer in an edge-free sphere. What changes is the placement – and for an omnidirectional speaker, that matters more than many would like. On the stand, the Akoya stands freely, at a distance from wall and furniture, and the CRCS room correction has significantly less to straighten out.

What you get

A complete unit plus base: power amps, converter and network player sit inside the sphere, and the metal stand with a 25-by-25-centimetre base and internal cable routing brings it up to 70 centimetres. Playback runs via LAN or dual-band WLAN, AirPlay 2, Bluetooth, optical, USB, or the analogue 3.5 mm jack; formats run up to 24-bit/192 kHz. Since 2025, the Akoya is also Roon Ready and appears as its own zone with current firmware. A streaming service is optional, not a starting requirement – internet radio and local files are enough for the first note.

Who is the set for – and who isn't it for?

For anyone who wants to run the Akoya freestanding and would rather not source the pieces separately. Straight talk: the set contains one speaker and one stand – for stereo you need two of them. If you have a suitable sideboard at the right height, or you're hanging the Akoya on the wall anyway, you don't need the stand.

Our verdict

A clean, freestanding package with no cable clutter and no compromise on height. Which placement really pays off in your room is something we're happy to work out with you at HD Zürisee in Wädenswil – by phone on +41 44 680 22 00, on WhatsApp at 076 534 22 00 (text only, no calls), or at shop@hdzuerisee.ch.

Frequently asked questions

What's included in this set?

A Cabasse The Pearl Akoya in black metallic and the matching Cabasse stand in matte black, plus the speaker's complete accessories. All you need is a power outlet and your network. A second speaker for stereo is not included.

How high does the speaker sit on the stand?

The stand measures 70 centimetres, the sphere itself 22 centimetres. That puts the coaxial driver roughly at ear height while seated – exactly what the stand is designed for. The base measures 25 by 25 centimetres and weighs 6.4 kilograms.

Can I hide the cable inside the stand?

Yes. The stand has internal cable routing, so the power cable runs down through the tube. Because the Akoya gets its music via network or Bluetooth, in the normal case exactly one visible cable remains.

Does the set work with Roon?

Yes. The Akoya in this set is Roon Ready – Cabasse had the Pearl series certified in 2025, and Roon additionally lists it as Roon Tested. A firmware update via the StreamCONTROL app is all it takes, after which it shows up as a zone. MQA is left out, and there's no aptX either – Bluetooth runs with SBC and AAC.

Do I need a streaming subscription?

No. Via the optical input, USB and the 3.5 mm jack you play a TV, CD player or a turntable with a phono stage, and internet radio is free. A paid service is convenient but not a requirement for operation.

Why buy the Akoya with stand at HD Zürisee?

Because we look at the speaker and its placement as a whole and tell you whether a stand, wall mount or shelf makes more sense in your room. Add to that an experienced, well-practised team, our own technician for setup and network questions, and advice that continues after the purchase.

Goes well with

More speakers, complementary subwoofers for more foundation, and everything around streaming.
