Rega iO Integrated Amplifier, Black

The Rega iO is a compact integrated amplifier with a built-in MM phono stage, bringing Rega's musical playing style into the smallest format – purely analogue, honest and ready to go straight away.

30 watts into 8 ohms, under 3 kilograms, a clear focus on the essentials: the iO is the entry point into genuine British hi-fi, with no frills.

Why the iO?

Because it distils the proven Class-A/B circuit of the Brio down to the essentials while still keeping that typical Rega drive. The built-in MM phono stage is designed along the same lines as the larger models – your turntable sounds lively and detailed, with no external equaliser needed. High-quality Sanken transistors give it a warm, natural tone.

What you hear

Surprisingly strong drive for its size. The iO controls standmount speakers with a bass you wouldn't expect from such a small chassis, and brings rhythm and warmth instead of technical coldness. Straight talk: it doesn't flatter anything – it delivers exactly the honest, engaging hi-fi that Rega stands for.

Who is the iO for?

For a study, bedroom, or smaller living room combining two line sources and a turntable. Honestly: the iO is consistently analogue – it has no digital inputs. If you want to feed in TV audio or streaming digitally, add a small DAC; if you're running a large, power-hungry pair of speakers, the Elex MK4 is the better choice.

Our verdict

The iO proves that good hi-fi doesn't need to be big or expensive. As an honest, musical entry into the world of Rega, it's hard to beat – especially paired with a matching standmount speaker and a Planar turntable. At HD Zürisee in Wädenswil we'll put together the right small system for you.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Rega iO have enough power for floorstanding speakers?

For efficient floorstanders and most standmount speakers, the 30 W into 8 Ω deliver enough level and bass foundation. For very large or low-sensitivity speakers in larger rooms, we recommend the more powerful Elex MK4.

Which turntables suit the iO?

Thanks to its built-in MM phono stage, it's the natural partner for the Rega Planar range – from the Planar 1 to the Planar 3. Any other turntable with an MM cartridge also benefits from the low-noise input. A separate phono preamplifier isn't needed.

Does it come with a remote control?

Yes, a compact system remote is included. It lets you conveniently adjust the volume and switch between inputs – from the sofa.

Why buy the Rega iO at HD Zürisee?

Because even a compact system deserves the right matching. We recommend suitable speakers and a turntable, set everything up, and are there for service – in person in Wädenswil on Lake Zurich.
