The Panasonic TV-55Z95BEKA is a 55-inch flagship-class OLED TV, arriving with a Primary RGB Tandem OLED panel, the HCX Pro AI Processor MK II and a 360° Soundscape Pro sound system tuned by Technics. It's the more compact edition of the Z95B series – same technology, same ambitions, just with less space needed in the living room. If you want Panasonic's top model without sacrificing an entire wall, this is where you land.

Why the TV-55Z95BEKA?

In 2026, the Z95B series is what sits at the very top of Panasonic's shelf – brighter and stronger in picture than the Z90 series, with ThermalFlow cooling that lets the panel keep its cool even at high brightness. The HCX Pro AI Processor MK II recalculates picture and sound in real time, and up to 144 Hz refresh rate makes sure fast games and sport don't smear. Two HDMI 2.1 inputs with VRR, ALLM, AMD FreeSync Premium and NVIDIA G-Sync compatibility turn it into a serious gaming screen, not just a movie TV with an alibi controller port. Fire TV as the operating system brings Alexa, Apple AirPlay and Apple Home straight along.

What you see and hear

The Primary RGB Tandem OLED panel delivers true black, high contrast and a brightness that doesn't just show HDR content but makes you feel it – Dolby Vision IQ, HDR10+ Adaptive, HLG and Filmmaker Mode are all on board and automatically adapt to your living-room light. Prime Video Calibrated Mode plus support for Calman calibration and ISFccc are aimed at anyone who wants to know exactly – everyone else just watches and enjoys. On the sound side, 360° Soundscape Pro, tuned by Technics, takes over with a good 30 watts of subwoofer power and Dolby Atmos. The soundbar can stay on the shelf this time – at least that's quite possible, we'll clear that up right below in the bluntly-put section.

Who is the TV-55Z95BEKA suited for – and who isn't it for?

Bluntly: the TV-55Z95BEKA is exactly right for anyone who wants picture and sound from one device without buying extra for the sound – the built-in speaker enclosure on the back does need some depth though, so it won't be as slim as a picture frame. If you absolutely want the slimmest profile in the room and never use the built-in speakers anyway because you have your own system or soundbar attached, you're better served by a slimmer model – or a separate speaker solution. For gamers, series bingers and anyone who simply wants a really good picture without cable clutter, on the other hand, it's pretty much spot on.

Our verdict

The bigger sibling, the TV-65Z95BEK, picked up the full five-star rating from What Hi-Fi? in 2025 – for picture quality, build and a sound that makes an external soundbar unnecessary in most cases. The technology of the Z95B series is the same in the 55-incher, just in a more compact format. If you want the Panasonic flagship but not the 65-inch wall to go with it, you get the same reference-level ambition here in a more manageable size.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Panasonic TV-55Z95BEKA still a "real" Panasonic, now that Skyworth is on board?
Yes. In 2026 Panasonic handed over its TV business to Skyworth in a strategic partnership, but production continues under the Panasonic brand, picture tuning and software. The formula officially holds: Panasonic TVs remain Panasonic TVs. Nothing changes about the HCX processor, the Technics sound tuning or the picture quality.

Do I need a subscription to make sensible use of the TV-55Z95BEKA?
No. Fire TV does bring streaming apps along, but the built-in DVB-T/T2/C/S tuner, USB playback and network access also work entirely without a paid subscription. Whether you stream series, watch classic TV or play films straight from a stick is completely up to you – the TV doesn't force you into anything.

Is the built-in sound enough, or do I still need a soundbar?
For most living rooms it's enough. 360° Soundscape Pro, tuned by Technics, with around 30 watts of subwoofer power and Dolby Atmos, sounds noticeably richer than the average built-in TV speaker. If you have a large room or elevated demands on cinema sound, you'll still gain with a separate system.

Is the TV-55Z95BEKA well suited for gaming?
Yes, clearly built for ambitious gaming. Two HDMI 2.1 ports with 4K at 144 Hz, VRR, ALLM, AMD FreeSync Premium and NVIDIA G-Sync compatibility, together with Game Mode Extreme, provide short reaction times and smooth motion rendering – both console and gaming PC run cleanly here.

How does the Z95B differ from the Z90 series?
The Z95B is the flagship above the Z90: higher peak brightness, the same ThermalFlow cooling, but overall pushed further, plus the full set of calibration tools like Calman support and ISFccc certification. If you want the maximum picture quality from the current Panasonic range, you reach for the Z95B rather than the Z90.
