The sphere comes in metallic high-gloss white, the stand in matte white – together, more sculpture than hi-fi component. On scope: one set consists of one speaker and one stand. For stereo, you take two.

Why The Pearl with stand?

Because this speaker radiates in all directions and needs air around it to do so. The 84 cm tall stand raises the coaxial driver to ear height, holds its position cleanly thanks to 15 kg of own weight, and routes the cables invisibly through both stand tubes. In white, that pays off twice over: no visible cable to disturb the clean shape. Bottom line: wedged onto a sideboard, the sphere looks good; standing free, it sounds good.

What you get

The complete Pearl technology: 1600 W RMS per speaker, a 25 cm woofer, a 13 cm coaxial driver, and according to the manufacturer, depth down to 14 Hz. CRCS calibration measures via a built-in microphone and adjusts the bass level to the placement. Networking comes via LAN or Wi-Fi at up to 24-bit/192 kHz, plus Roon Ready and AirPlay 2. A subscription isn't required: via optical S/PDIF, analogue RCA and USB-A you connect a TV, CD player, turntable (with phono stage) or a hard drive, with internet radio running for free. Control is via the StreamCONTROL app or Bluetooth remote.

Who is the set suited for – and who isn't it for?

For anyone looking for a freestanding sound-and-design statement in living spaces up to around 35 m². Honestly: if the speaker ends up on the lowboard next to the TV anyway, you can save on the stand and get the sphere on its own. And if you want quiet background music, the smaller Akoya is the better pick.

Our verdict

White sphere on a white stand – visually the calmest package in the Pearl family, and sonically the most complete. HIFI.DE gave the speaker 8.9 out of 10 points in its test (Tim Hundenborn, May 2023). How many speakers does this set include?

One. The set consists of one The Pearl active speaker and one The Pearl Stand in white, plus a Bluetooth remote, power cable and instructions. Cabasse sells the Pearl individually as a rule, because each sphere is a complete system. For stereo, you order two sets.

What are the stand's dimensions and weight?

The The Pearl Stand is 84 cm tall and stands on a footprint of 38 × 38 cm, at 15 kg own weight. It's made of metal in matte white. Both stand tubes carry the cables concealed, so power and signal cables stay out of sight.

Does the set also work in small rooms?

In rooms under about 20 m², a lot of headroom goes unused, but it still works. CRCS calibration reins in excessive bass when the speaker sits close to a wall. From around 25 m² it becomes really cohesive, and up to about 35 m² the Pearl feels visibly at home.

Can I buy the stand separately later on?

Yes, the The Pearl Stand is also available on its own. As a set, you get it in a colour that matches the sphere right away, saving you a second order and the colour question. Get in touch if you already own a Pearl and are just looking for the stand.

Which streaming services run directly on the Pearl?

Tidal, Qobuz, Deezer, Napster and Spotify via Spotify Connect are built in directly, along with internet radio via vTuner. Cabasse doesn't support Amazon Music natively. Via AirPlay 2, Roon or Bluetooth you can additionally play back anything running on your phone or computer.
