The Analogis Mat Two is a turntable mat made of pure natural cork that reduces static charge and damps platter resonances more effectively than felt or rubber.
At 296 mm in diameter, it fits almost any common turntable – a small, affordable upgrade with an audible effect.
Why the Mat Two?
Cork is naturally antistatic and acts as a mechanical filter: the 2.5 mm of material breaks up the harsh vibrations of the metal platter before they reach the stylus. Switching from rubber or felt to cork is like moving from an echoey new-build flat into a cozy wooden house – playback turns warmer and feels more "real".
What you get
- Antistatic: no more annoying crackle and no more mat sticking to the record.
- Better damping: absorbs platter resonances more efficiently than standard felt – more calm, more precision in the bass.
- Universal: 296 mm diameter, fits most common turntables.
- Light and flat: 33 g and 2.5 mm barely change the bearing load.
Who is the Mat Two for – and who isn't it for?
Ideal as an upgrade over the stock felt or rubber mat, especially in dry, heated rooms where vinyl likes to build up static. Straight talk: if your tonearm has no VTA/height adjustment and you were previously using a very thin mat, check the tracking angle briefly – 2.5 mm can raise the tonearm slightly.
Our verdict
Little money, noticeable effect: less static, cleaner tracking, warmer tonal foundation. Which mat thickness and material suit your turntable is something we're happy to work out with you at HD Zürisee in Wädenswil – before you swap blindly.

Frequently asked questions
Is cork really better than the original rubber mat?
In most cases, yes. Rubber does damp vibrations, but it often makes the sound feel a bit lifeless. Cork lets the music breathe and prevents static build-up – a real win in winter with dry heating air. How pronounced the effect is depends on the turntable.
Will the Mat Two fit my turntable?
At 296 mm in diameter, it fits the vast majority of common platters, from Rega and Pro-Ject to Technics. With a very thin previous mat and a tonearm without height adjustment, it's worth a quick check of the tracking angle, since 2.5 mm adds a bit of height.
Does the cork crumble over time?
Not at this quality. The cork is densely pressed and lasts for years, as long as you don't fold the mat. Cork is durable but more brittle than rubber – so store it flat and don't fold it. Dust simply taps off or brushes off dry.
Do I need to readjust antiskating or tracking force?
Tracking force stays the same, and so does antiskating. Only the tonearm height can shift slightly by the mat's thickness. If your tonearm has height adjustment, level it parallel to the record again after the switch – that takes two minutes.
